COAL CONSUMPTION AFFECTING CLIMATE.

The furnaces of the world are now burning about 2,000,000,000 tons of coal a year. When this is burned, uniting with oxygen, it adds about 7,000,000,000 tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere yearly. This tends to make the air a more effective blanket for the earth and to raise its temperature. The effect may be considerable in a few centuries.

Nirvanna the band the show the movie was amazing and I'm so glad I got to see it this year, and it's right now the one. I do also love Palm Springs and Army of Darkness. I want to add a 4th but I can't think of one right now. Oh well. Nirvanna the band the show the movie was good enough.

The 4 peregrine chicks, this time with a wide shot so the full birds can be seen. They are very close together, and one or two down feathers are left against their brown feathers. From left to right, there is a blue band (Vincent, male), and a yellow band (Dalewood, male) the other two are obscured. They also kind of look like a band from the 90s posing for their debut album.

The three peregrines chicks that are not in care, hanging out on the ledge. Red band (corktown F) in the center of the image, I believe a blue band on the left (vincent, M), leaving the chick under the overhang as the white band (saltfleet, F). Currently Dalewood is in care at the Owl Foundation after something happened last night, and he was brought to the foundation. Likely a small collision with a window. He seems fine so far but they are keeping him there to be safe.

Let me be very crystal clear: I oppose AI mega data centres as they currently exist and operate.

I believe there are too many negative environmental and human health impacts that must be comprehensively addressed through stringent regulations and criteria from all three levels of government, as well as robust public engagement before they are approved in our communities.

Expanding digital infrastructure to meet multi-sectoral computing needs, while also addressing data security and data sovereignty, is on the horizon across Canada. How we go about it in our communities matters. And, with Evan Solomon the Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation coming to Hamilton on Thursday, June 4th for the Bay Area Economic Forum, we must begin a very serious conversation as a community with the Government of Canada on issues like:

What is the federal government doing to ensure deep and meaningful public consultation occurs to set regulatory requirements for the development of mega data centres in a manner that protects human and environmental health, protects our precious natural bodies of water, and ensures energy sustainability?

What does the federal government have planned to work with local communities, municipalities, provinces, territories, and Indigenous communities to ensure true public benefits are established and actualized if federal public funding is being invested in creating digital infrastructure?

I want to ensure residents have the accurate information they deserve about the future of AI mega data centres in Ward 3 and in Hamilton. This is new territory for our city. That is why I have a motion, “Municipal Framework regarding the Development of Data Centres in Hamilton” coming to the next Planning Committee to provide information to the public.

What has led to a flurry of questions in our communities about AI data centres is an outstanding application for land severance that Slate, the owners of Steelport on the former Stelco lands, have tabled with the Committee of Adjustment currently scheduled for June 4th at 9:35am.

Their package of materials states that they are seeking a land severance for “the potential development of a data centre campus on the Severed Lands. The campus may contain hyperscale and enterprise data centres, power generation blocks and substations, and an office / research and development campus.”

This is not a decision before City Council. In fact, members of Council are forbidden, by the Code of Conduct, from speaking to a specific application before the Committee of Adjustment, which is an independent tribunal. Members of Council cannot unduly influence the decision of the Committee of Adjustment.

What we can do is inform our residents about the process by which to publicly participate in the Committee of Adjustment, what the application is seeking, and what City staff are recommending.

So, here is that information:

The Committee of Adjustment meeting will take place on June 4th at 9:35am in Council Chambers at City Hall.

The details of Slate’s Application can be found here from the May 19, 2026 Agenda where it was initially deferred from: # B-2026-00011 – 386 Wilcox St Hamilton (Ward 3) and seeks to sever the existing industrial lot into two (2) parcels, to facilitate future development. An adult falcon on the left (mostly out of frame save the head and upper torso and tops of it's wings) is feeding it's chicks. There are three next to the adult, one with it's mouth open, two below it in the frame. The one closes to the parent has a red band meaning it's the male chick Corktown. Behind the chicks, is a lone chick doing it's own thing. All the chicks are patchy with white down feathers. There is also meat below the adult that is being fed to the chicks.

You can see in this picture the blue band on the chick meaning the one in front is Vincent. All the falcons cataloged through falconwatch are named after neighborhoods in Hamilton.

The 4 chicks from this year. You can see the one in front has it's wings open and you can see it's blue banding on it's leg. Behind him are two falcons facing the camera and one facing away. all are white and grey, but the start of flight feathers on the one in front can be seen because if it's wide wings.

The ledge is covered in animal detritus, and the bricks on the right are faded brick red.

a falcon feeds its chicks. Likely this is McKeever the female, though my identification abilities aren't great. there are 4 chicks, 3 vying for the current morsel and the 4th back a bit with a beak open. There's a dead bird in the falcon's claws.

Same animals as the previous alt text. Falcon feeding it's chicks at 16:13:03 (2026/05/21). The adult is facing away more than in the previous picture, there is a chick in the foreground with his wings open, and three chicks behind it grasping for food.

The chicks are all white down still, but getting bigger every day. The chicks have been banded and named as well, though I really can't tell them apart yet.

Few paruns still existed along side this card in the first set.

His abilities represent impressive knowledge (card draw) and a willingness to use it for power (dealing damage when cards are drawn)

At this time the leaders of the guilds were being killed to install puppets in the pocket of a different dragon, Nicol Bolas, who is planning the war of the spark to happen on this plane so he can drain the sparks of planeswalkers and return his power to that of godhood. There’s a lot of story. This is like bare bones.

Time cube? Now there's a name I haven't heard in 40 years.

Time cube was a crackpot theory website from the late 90s that was mostly incoherent ranting about time being a cube.

It's ok, they're like the three men in the hot tub Ontario branding image.

The 2nd most recent Ontario government branding. The symbol is a stylized trillium flower, the Provincial flower of Ontario. Trilliums are white three petaled ground flowers. The symbol itself has three petals but the way it is designed there are the three ends of the flower petals that look like rounded Vs, but between the petals are a Y shaped design with a dot in the center above the Y. This gives the shape the look of an upper body, arms leading back and a head. So, it is often called the Hot Tub Trillium, or the "three men in a hot tub" because of how they look like they are leaning out of a triangle shaped hot tub, trying to stay far enough away from each other.

Once you see it, you can't unsee the three men.
