Reposting this one from 2019 of a blanket octopus character named Laney Downe. I designed her awhile back and I’m so happy and honored that @rdewalt.bsky.social has written her into the next book of his Guardians series!
This was gonna just be a warmup sketch but I ended up locking in a bit more. While chatting with a friend today, I realized I need this reminder now and then.
It’s about ten years now since I embraced this little gremlin. The lofty, lyrical, loquacious, larger than life leafy seadragon, Loewy Afterlight! His full name is intentionally designed to sound a little ominous, but when you pair it with his first initial it sounds like “Laughter Light”

Edit part deux: Leigh’s rough sketch is in! I’m going for a combo of midcentury and 80s style with her, because she doesn’t just dance to the beat of one drum, she dances to at least two.
Today’s WIP is eventually gonna get worked into a group shot, so this rough is just me trying to get the pose down for Greer.

Today I am working on a design for By-the-Wind Sailor, Arkie’s nephew and Greer’s loyal buddy! Sailor is a dramatic, outgoing and friendly football player with a deep passion for romance novels, films and tropes.

Ok, one more doodle for the night. I haven’t done any comics in forever, here’s a start. Like I said, theatre kid.
Decided to revisit this classic for a cooldown sketch XD Just a rough for now!
Time for the main character to get some love! The one, the only mythos-chasing bunny, it’s Greer! This is a very rough rough; the right eye is just there for positioning, etc. I’m still working on where everything goes.
My rough sketches are ROUGH. I’m trying not to be bashful about it but it’s always been hard!
