The Lamityville Horror
@lamityville
Digital artist focusing on dark fantasy, horror, and landscape art using photobashing, kitbashing, and all sorts of digital painting techniques. Big focus on 3D character work lately using Daz3D. *NoAI*
Thanks for the artshare! Been awhile since I've shared anything. I just recently submitted this piece to an art contest. I call it "River Witches of Appalachia" ... Loosely based on my Grandma and her friends, who I was convinced were witches when I was very young. NSFW for slight nudity
Bracken & Wrynn were never meant to be a couple. They're both #dnd characters that I've played at my table. They didn't even exist in the same world. Yet, I love the idea of them together. She's a reluctant hero and he's a reluctant villain. Both Warlocks. #ocsky #digitalart #fantasyart #daz3d
Last year, I entered a piece into this contest, on a whim, never expecting anything ... and was one of the top 25 finalists in the digital category. I was *wracked* with fear about submitting this year. But I did anyway. Wish me luck! "Lost Photo of the River Witches of Appalachia, circa 1937"
Decided to try a different color variation for this one, so I recolored it from b/w and changed the background a bit. Wanted to go for a bit more contrast between the light and fog, with more natural colors. Haven't decided which one I like more. #art #digitalart #fantasyart #daz3d #dazstudio
I was looking at some vintage photos of women in Appalachia and I wanted to try to create that old slice of life photo look. WiP and is pretty low-res. I present: "The River Witches of Appalachia" or "Gertrude Summons a Distraction" #art #digitalart #fantasyart #3dart #daz3d #dazstudio
Decided to do a variation of this where I build an environment around her. An underground temple, to play on her treasure hunter/adventurer personality. Really liked how this turned out. #digitalart #3dart #fantasyart #dnd #warlock #noai
New Warlock concept I'm working on. A Warforged mech suit being "piloted" by his Gazer familiar. He's got a big Pact Hammer and an Eldritch Blast gun on his arm. Pew-pew. Great old one Patron. #dnd #digitalart #3dart
Bracken diving in the deep sea. #dnd #fantasyart #oc #3dart #digitalart #daz3d #daz3dstudio
Been doing so much character stuff lately, decided to go in a different direction tonight. Rendered in #daz3d with postwork in #Affinity #digitalart #fantasyart #horrorart
I also really enjoy making faux-covers for books that don't exist. I do these with #3dart and #compositing or #photobashing ... I spend a lot of time on title work when I do this. #portfolioday #bookcover
But, sometimes, I also like to play with 3D in different ways. Not everything needs to be photorealistic. Sometimes, I just want to make other interesting #digitalart #portfolioday
I tend to focus a lot on light, color, and textures both in-render and during post. I like doing full body shots and head shots of interesting characters. #3dart #fantasyart #portfolioday
It's #PortfolioDay My name is John Lam and I am a 3D Artist. I do a lot of what I like to call #virtualphotography. I set up models, a scene, hair, costume, make-up, etc. I take some photos with a virtual camera. And I do a lot of post-work. #Daz3d #Affinity Here are some of my pieces:
Updating Rowan as well. This one feels very 90s to me. Like she's definitely into Kurt Cobain and Vampire the Masquerade. #fantasyart #oc #3dart #daz3d
I'm currently redoing all of my #OC folks in #Daz3d ... this is a very low-res test of a couple outfits put together for Bracken. I'll be doing a lot of worldbuilding art on my channel later this spring, so there's a lot of testing going on right now. Thought I'd share this one. #3dart #fantasyart
Been working on a "How-To" project and decided to design a #bookcover for a book full of my #fantasyart ... I really liked how it turned out. #art I may be launching a #tutorial series soon.
Trying something a bit different than my usual style. But, as always, I like playing with light and color more than anything. Bracken, falling into the deep. #3dart #digitalart #horrorart #fantasyart #daz3d #daz3dstudio #lightandcolor #art #ocart
This is one of my favorite pieces that I've ever done. No 3D in this one, just 100% photo compositing and painting over. #digitalart #fantasyart #dnd #warlock #photobash #composite
The hardest parts of having a pet is the responsibility of knowing when it's time to let go. My good gal Friday was nearly 15 and her bad days were outnumbering her good ones. We tried to make her last day as good as possible. I wish she could have stayed forever and I will miss her terribly.
This was the piece. It's one of about 10 different lighting variations I'm working on, using a single base 3D model.
Awhile back, I went on a rant about "3D line art" tutorials, how they always use those god awful "toon" filters in post that make your art look dirty and gross. So, I've been working on a new workflow for to convert 3D art to line art. This is *still* in-progress. #daz3dstudio #3dart
Visual update of my Fathomless Warlock, Bracken. This is *very* early, with updated ears and not-horns (they are a type of coral that grows out of her head, part of being a Sea Hag Hexblood). Flat lighting because multiple light scenarios are coming! #dnd #3dart #fantasyart #daz3dstudio
First piece of the year and all I could channel was rage. #art #3dart #daz3dstudio #fantasyart #angry
I do a lot of #3Dart. The last year I've been focusing a lot of post processing. But this year, i want to add more digital paint over and painting new details into the render before going through post. Here are a few of my faves of 2025.
I've been thinking for awhile about making a YT series of art tutorials for Daz Studio & Affinity. So, my family is getting me a few things to make that easier to do. My daughter has asked for a mountain of Junji Ito stuff. To go with it, I made her this homage to Uzumaki starring her and her cat.
No spoilers, but this story is literally about 2 female characters who are motivated and shaped by the violent loss of their fathers. Both of these young ladies become who they are because of their fathers. But it mocks fatherhood and masculinity by having girls beat up men. Absolute clown shit
Watching a group of old ass men--literally old as fuck guys--lose their shit because the new Supergirl movie isn't based on the original 1959 Otto Binder version of Kara. Saying that Gunn and Tom King made Supergirl "unrecognizable". Swear to god being a male comic book fan is *humiliating*.
