876!! When looking at cities with a population of 60,000 people or more, Toledo now ranks #1 on the list. However the Glass City is neck and neck with Marquette, Michigan at the moment. Just to think, before today the record in Toledo was just under 200. I think I speak for many, but today is a sad and very frustrating day.

Ok first off, because this always comes up, yes I'm using an app on my phone to post and I used another app to make the image. I used online map today and browsed some social media. Etc etc. No one is suggesting we give the internet up completely.
What we are trying to say is can we at least stop using generative Al to "make" and "write" stuff that looks and sound like the soulless slop it is? Can we use our own eyes and hands and our own brains to make something authentic vs handing the process over to a machine with a few prompts?
I did look at what's out there now for editing/images and it's not turtles all the way down. It's Al all the way down. The speed and depth of how much has been shoved on us is just beyond belief and even more reason to avoid it
whenever we can. There are still easy, free or low cost options for anything you need to do. And ffs can we use our own words??

MAYBE what connects dogs with people are pics and videos that show their personality a little? MAYBE even a short sincere bio by someone who's met the dog helps more than 4 paragraphs of words that say nothing?
One thing nearly everyone agrees on during these times, minus of course the people making money off of it all, is data centers suck. Just drive by what meta has started on 25. We cannot dial it all back but we can do our own small part. I look at it like littering. Someone else threw their garbage alongside road. I'm still not throwing my coffee cup out too.

These programs are made explicitly to sweep the internet for art to steal, and regurgitate a crude reconstruction of what it has taken.
If any band that wishes to play Howards is using generative Al to make a flyer, we urge you to reach out to a local artist or look into free tools like Canva or Gimp. We here at Howards would be glad to connect you to a local artist or put together a quick flyer for you within one of these tools if asked.
