So great to see this movie in front of a sold out appreciative audience tonight with filmmakers Michael Lehmann and Daniel Waters. Laughing, cheering and totally getting the joke. Has the world finally caught up with “Hudson Hawk?”

Happy 100th birthday to Mel Brooks - the funniest, kindest, smartest man in the history of the world. He’s been my hero ever since I snuck into Blazing Saddles at an inappropriately young age. One of the great joys of my life has been becoming Mel’s friend. And here’s where that all started.

The great Kim Morgan introducing Billy Wilder’s “The Seven Year Itch” at the Academy Museum last night as part of their tribute to Marilyn Monroe.
K Callan is killing it as Ruth in “Widow’s Bay.” She turned ninety this year and I’ve loved her since the early 1970s when I saw her play Peter Boyle’s wife in one of the great gritty films of the New Hollywood era “Joe.”
Some pics from Scott’s bday lunch yesterday. Second slide is my present to him - a steel newspaper printing plate from 1949 for a Marx Brothers midnight double feature on New Year’s Eve!!
Flipping through the letter S in my dwindling laser disc collection

Incredible Q&A with the not scary at all in person Robert Englund for the Bleak Week screening of 1974’s “Buster and Billie.” The Cinematheque audience was deeply moved by the film and even stuck around to sing Happy Birthday to Robert!
I’m ok with a new version of “Cape Fear” just as long as Max Cady still loves “Problem Child.”
