It’s easy to think of “The Return of the Pink Panther” as just a fun and silly movie. But the diamond heist at the beginning is incredibly well depicted.

Who remembers seeing this before any movie in the 1970s? Since they were used over and over, they seldom looked as good.

On this day in 1957, Warner Brothers released “A Face In The Crowd.” Starring Andy Griffith as a grifter making his way through the new medium of television, this film was far, far ahead of its time. It certainly predicted bad things down the road and we’ve certainly seen them happen. A great watch.

I would love to have the original theatrical version on Blu-ray. But I was forced to only get the directors cut. Some of the added scenes are interesting, but some of the scenes were a little redundant, which is why they were cut in the first place. Duh.
