Most excellent Autowa placement of this construction sign. Instead of along the ~30' stretch of empty curb, the genius places it right next to a ring post. Next to a lamp post. Which made parking my bike and trailer real fun. @en.ottawa.ca
Post a perfect album from the 90's that isn't Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam or Alice In Chains. I present thee: Spirit Chaser by Dead Can Dance
There is definitely some high level fire smoke. Not complaining about the dramatic skies today tho.
Hey @helps.octranspo.com, can you folks get rid of the barricades at Bayview Station please? Bluesfest ended 5 days ago, and they're just in the way. Thanks.
Oh yeah, #ottbike, the corner of Scott and Winona is ripped up again. Very unhelpful signage at Churchill.
Heads up, people who don't drive, but use Scott Street for travel: the road will be closed completely, later this week. Walkers- access will be maintained. People on bikes will be expected to dismount and walk (lol) or use a long and unnecessary detour. Or you could ride on Armstrong. #ottbike
@mark-sutcliffe.bsky.social Hey Mark, why is Trillium pathway blocked at Gladstone, with no notice and no safe detour set up? Does the city not know this is the only car-free N/S cycling route west of O'Connor? It's used by hundreds of people a day. #ottbike #balance
My obsession with hoyas grows stronger. Damn that local plant shop's IG feed.
I spent less than $50 at Bluesfest this year, including buying 50/50 tickets. When the beer sponsor is Coors, it's easy to save money on alcohol. Saw some great live music, some killer sunsets, and lightning bugs! Bluesfest 2026 is over, and I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow!
Today's excitement: a sparrow flew into my workplace today, and waited til the very minute I needed to leave work to come down to the floor so she could be shooed out. Thankfully, we didn't need to bring in a wildlife removal specialist. Cuz ain't nobody got time for that on a Friday afternoon.
Hey @ncc-ccn.gc.ca, gotta get a little more pro-active with the garbage clean up at Westboro Beach parking lot. This bin has been overflowing for a few days now. Sure would be nice to see some waste streaming at public spots like this.
Sooo AQHI index says the air quality is normal, yet the light outside is yellow, and I can look at the sun, which appears orange in a dull sky. Firesmoke map shows there's smoke in the atmosphere. Really not looking forward to going outside today.
You want some patchwork?? I gotcher patchwork right here! (Please note the car parked in the "bike lane")
I have a similar group of photos! Lol! Dominated by drivers who think no parking signs don't apply to them at an NCC property near the River. The new tactile tiles they laid along the curb for accessibility are completely destroyed.
Spontaneously decided to ride over to Lemieux Island to watch the sun sink behind the Gatineau Hills. Of course there were obnoxious cars parked illegally on the bridge.
Imagine my surprise when this fucking idiot driver didn't like me swearing at him for blocking 2 bike racks and the fire lane at the Metro.
So uh, when did that building across from the wine store on Somerset get torn down?
Dahlias are so great. The Public Gardens in Halifax has a fantastic collection, they plant them in long skinny curlicue beds so you can walk along and see all the varieties from either side.
I left the Jazz volunteer party early enough to swing thru the Arboretum to look for dinobirbs. I did see one, swooping over the trees and coming to rest in a tree across the pond from me. Heckin magical.
Just bbqing wings during an extreme electrical storm, as one does. Happy Canada Day! #ottweather
Sitting outside reading/scrolling, with pouring rain! But hey, lookit what I'm reading!
