"Don't Laugh, Shijima-San" is a very fun one-shot by Kohei Horikoshi. Interesting setting that feels very different from MHA and the art is beautiful, as you'd expect from Horikoshi. Wouldn't mind seeing more!
I dont need an opening to reinvent the wheel to like it. Sometimes it can be as "simple" as showing what an episode of the show looks like. The Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You opening is doing exactly that. The main characters are shown working and then meeting to smoke together afterwards.
While not as good as the opening for the first season, Seihantai 2nd opening is still plenty fun and stands out due to its fun colors and ways to introduce the characters. I like that it also somewhat continues the trend of having scenes where a character is filming the others being silly.
Impossible to not include The World is Dancing, which stands out due to its abstract style evoking the painterly style of its era. It's very well paced, with starting the opening with a traditional dance which then leads to the wild and emotional dancing in the second half.
Jaadugar's opening is dramatic, which is fitting for the story that it tells. It manages to introduce all the characters and story elements while not revealing too much and presenting it in interesting ways. The chorus part is the standout, doing a great job showing Sitara's frustration.
The opening for Sayonara Lara is easily my favorite opening of the season and contender for favorite of the year. I have been listening to Ikimonogakari for almost 20 years now, so I have a soft spot for them, but it really is the animation that captures my heart. The scenes when the chorus plays -
The opening for Goodbye, Lara makes me want to cry, it's so beautiful. The montage when the first chorus drops... inject it into my veins! Having a great Ikimonogakari song helps a lot, of course.
J⇔M is a very fun read. A body swap manga that then leads to a bunch of misunderstandings. Very Rumiko-coded.
