Day to day at Blogposts at Londoner, walks, rides a bicycle, drives a car, often lost. Still no idea what an "eco-caramel coconut latte" is.

#Lambeth Council strikes MoUs with hire ebike/eScooter operators for 2026-28. (Papers to Scrutiny Ctte 21/7/26 moderngov.lambeth.gov.uk/ieListDocume...) Frustratingly, Lambeth have redacted the sexy bits with the actual fees and expected income! 1/n
When the unwind-Bank-safety stuff started in 2021, the taxi orgs rallied to "game" or "pack" the consultation responses. City officers saw what was happening and reweighted the responses. Officers may try again now, but Aldermen ain't listening, alas. Soft-Tories are keen to unwind scheme.
@citylcc.bsky.social @psimonk.bsky.social Seems there were over 3,500 responses to the City's taxis-across-Bank consultation ... which might mean something, or nothing at all. (Minutes of Common Council, 25/6/26 pdf democracy.cityoflondon.gov.uk/documents/s2...)
Which hire bike operators are in which London boroughs? Well, as at 23/6/26, there's Lime, Forest, Voi or none (Paper to City of London Streets Ctte 21/7/26, agenda democracy.cityoflondon.gov.uk/ieListDocume...) (Attempt in alt txt to unpack colours & operators per borough, or not ... )
Interesting to see what % interest local authorities pay to borrow from #CityOfLondon (or CoL deposits surplus funds with) Stockport (LibDem) 4.4%, Rochdale (Labour) 4.3%, Lancs CC (RefUK) up to 4.6% City Investment Ctte 20/7/26 democracy.cityoflondon.gov.uk/ieListDocume...

Would it be helpful if I pointed out that SEJ's official address of Durham Avenue RM2, is a traffic filtered street? find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/1459... www.google.com/maps/place/D...
I suspect the noise bloke's objection to LTNs is, in part, cos (AFAIK) he found himself in the red bit of the Brixton Hill LTN. (Companies House is very helpful).
... Tory Baroness Annie, using her unelected position to pursue her (anti) cycling fetish. Baroness McIntosh *never* asks about motoring, motorists or motoring offences. bsky.app/profile/dft-...
2/ In 2018, Tory-chaired London Assembly asked Tory gov for the VED ("road tax") to be returned - Treasury replied "get stuffed" > Letter 25/1/18 Gareth Bacon (MP) to HMT: www.london.gov.uk/about-us/lon... > Letter 13/2/18 Robert Jenrick (HMT minister) to Assembly: www.london.gov.uk/about-us/lon...
1/n If Andy Burnham wishes London to "take the cost of rent, bills and fares seriously", will he return London's VED receipts to fund TfL? London lost VED receipts when Tory Mayor Boris Johnson accepted Chancellor George Osborne's budget in the early 2010s. Tube fare income now subsidises roads.
10 July'26, 10pm, pleasant 25 degs C: - #CS3Count Vic Embankment 8671 journeys today (seems low 🤔), 820,559 since April's reboot - #CS6Count Blackfriars Road 6522 today, 366,293 since the May reboot @cs3cs6count.bsky.social

2/ Fair to say, the bollard presence at today's much changed Spital Square is limp compared to the Victorian effort above. www.google.com/maps/@51.520...
You all know that traffic-filtered streets are nothing new, but admire some serious bollard action in the old Spital Square, just off the City of London's Bishopsgate, as recorded in 1909. Credit to the fabulous story teller @thegentleauthor.bsky.social : spitalfieldslife.com/2026/07/10/l...
