Got my pinhole camera and a colander at the ready (and very impressed at the guy watching it through a welding helmet!)
We couldn't investigate the rapist murderer but we have plenty of time to investigate journalists and arrest people holding Palestinian Action signs. Rotten.
Just received an interesting email in the Unite leadership contest... Seems like some aren't happy with the anti net zero line! Never voted in one before but I'm not exactly thrilled with it either - anyone know anything about this guy?
My "I have a plan" T-shirt is getting some questions already answered by my T-shirt
On which note, I'm going to get on with electing a fantastic community champion in Kidlington West. Let's see how Labour do there. Oh wait. They couldn't even find a candidate. Like I said: good luck with that
I wrote to the Secretary of State to raise the need for funding for local government to support heatwave response and home cooling. This summer has broken records but is unlikely to be a one-off, and we need to support vulnerable people to prepare better for next time.
Am I reading right that Nigel Farage took money from a guy who wrote a book on how to bribe people?
Slight problem @georgebas5.bsky.social @europesheila.bsky.social can anyone tie break!
I won a bee hotel in the Banbury Lib Dems thank you party raffle! Do I need to do anything special to attract bees or do I just put it in a sunny spot and hope for the best?
Kidlington village fete today. Note to self: do not run away to join the circus, circus tricks are hard!
In Oxford today for Full Council with some great questions, especially one around how the council plans to support adaptation to Extreme Heat. Unfortunately there isn't currently central govt funding for this, so I'll be writing to ministers asking them to expand the warm home grant to cover cooling
"Kids, can I take a picture of the sign without you in it so I can put it on social media" 🤣 congratulations to everyone who completed the Otmoor Challenge on this very hot day and mega thanks to the organisers and volunteers 🏃🏼🌞 🏃🏼♀️
Some new policy working groups advertising! The rural one I'm especially excited about because it's something I advocated for on the policy review and then on FPC. Website seems not to be up to date so apply from Tuesday I guess! www.libdems.org.uk/members/make...
Inspirational first evening out in my new job at the Oxfordshire Apprentice Awards - @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social highly commended in the employer category and some amazing winners including OCC's own Kelly Liebermann who won the special recognition award - congratulations Kelly!
Really excited to now be the Cabinet Member for Economy and Environment. We need growth to work for the environment as well as for people and bringing these roles together will allow us to plan strategically. Looking forward to getting stuck in!
I think fixing prices in the supermarket is a bad idea and if we are concerned that people don't have enough money to buy essentials that is what the benefits system is for
Headed out to Princes Risborough this afternoon to support the wonderful @anjaschaefer.bsky.social - lots of people fed up with the Tories and Bucks Council and looking for alternatives 🧡🔶🧡
Gorgeous views from Hampton Poyle back towards Kidlington. Love campaigning at this time of year 💛
Canvassing in Noke today, I've made FMS reports for a blocked drain and a deteriorated road - the road is already on the resurfacing list but I'll chase. I was also made aware of a Thames Water issue which I know @calummillerld.bsky.social is working on but will check if there's anything I can do
I spoke at full council to highlight Oxford Labour's failure to build sufficient homes over many years, leaving us with the worst housing crisis in the country, exporting high prices around the county, and forcing people into overcrowded homes and ever-longer commutes.
Really compelling speakers today at @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social full council highlighting need for road safety improvements and active travel - Thame to Haddenhan Greenway, lower speed limits in Banbury and our own Lisa Smith talking about saving Roundham crossing between Begbroke and Kidlington
Environment Agency update on Kidlington illegal waste clearance confirms that site preparation is ongoing and waste clearance is on track to begin in April
