Someone help me. I just had a compelling urge to standardize all of my garage storage with HDX. Could I be more of an old guy?
Washington Monument Reflecting Pool: 2,030x167 feet Olympic pool: 164x82: (~1/25 area) Large-ish backyard pool: 40x20: (~1/400) Q: How does a contractor who normally works with such a small space make the tone match across a space *400 TIMES* the size they normally treat? A: They don’t.
Update: lost a couple, gained one on the side of one of the containers. Now about 2.5 in tall. moved to a passive watering system that draws about a quart per week. Might be able to move outside here in Massachusetts in a month or so. #thatsWhatSheOakSaid
She oak update: significant growth on the center front (added MiracleGro plant spike on Feb 2, others Feb 27 after the first one tolerated the fertilizer) #ThatsWhatSheOakSaid
The girls (“She” oak 😉) have their own apartments now. #thatsWhatSheOakSaid
McGyver grow station. 30 year old grow light, hardware store timer (16 hours per day), old set of wire shelves, roasting pan, OxyClean tubs, and reflective insulation from Blueprint Cleanse packaging. #thatsWhatSheOakSaid
She-Oak update: Test transplant into “beach soil”: 3:2:1 potting soil:sand:perlite. When I reclaimed the soil from the starter pods, one of the unsprouted seeds was buried at the bottom. That’s what is under that toothpick. greg.app/beach-sheoak... #thatsWhatSheOakSaid
An update: new automated watering system MacGyvered from a pond pump and two storage bins. Up to 12 successful spouts! Also added a random spring of something from my homemade compost. I think maybe it’s sedum.
Progress! Planted Casuarina equisetifolia (coastal she-oak, or horsetail she-oak) seeds Oct 30. First growth past the seed leaves started about two weeks ago. So far about 10 of ~35 seeds have sprouted.
We (as 8.5x11s) need to make these spaces inviting and fun. It’s a shame that we need to do this, because (looks around in panic) but we do. I was an inflatable shark Saturday. Partially to make the regime seem ridiculous, but also, I got a lot of hug requests from small children
