Updated my villain origin story chart + added some notes

A chart showing Academy Award-nominated/winning films written and directed by the same woman. The women are: Coralie Forgeat, Justine Triet, Celine Song, Greta Gerwig, Sarah Polley, Jane Campion, Sian Heder, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Chloe Zhao, Emerald Fennell, Dee Rees, Lisa Cholodenko, Debra Granik, Courtney Hunt, Tamara Jenkins, Sofia Coppola, Shari Springer Berman, Nora Ephron, Agnieszka Holland, and Lina Wertmüller. They share 25 screenwriting nominations total (5 wins) and 10 directing nominations total (3 wins, 1 honorary). Kathryn Bigelow is the only woman to win (or be nominated) for director with a screenplay she did not write. Elaine May, Nancy Meyers, and Nora Ephron have all been nominated for screenplays they did not direct, May and Ephron twice. Marielle Heller and Barbra Streisand have never been nominated for director, but women were nominated for screenplays they directed. Of the 21 Best Picture nominees directed by women in history, 8 were nominated for director and 20 for screenplay, excluding Selma.

Ryan Coogler (Sinners), Barry Jenkins (Moonlight*), Jordan Peele (Get Out), and Spike Lee (BlacKkKlansman*) have also all won screenwriting Oscars and lost Best Director for the same film. Spike Lee was nominated for screenplay for Do The Right Thing and not Best Director that year, which is absurd. Taika Waititi has a screenwriting win for JoJo Rabbit and a short film nomination, but no Best Director nominations.

More relevant notes I gathered while researching:
- Kathryn Bigelow is the only woman to win (or be nominated) for director with a screenplay she did not write.
- Elaine May, Nancy Meyers, and Nora Ephron have all been nominated for screenplays they did not direct, Elaine May and Nora Ephron twice.
- Marielle Heller has never been nominated for director, but Nicole Holofcener was nominated for Can You Ever Forgive Me*. Similarly, Barbra Streisand has never been nominated for director, but Becky Johnston was nominated for The Prince of Tides*.
- Of the 23 Best Picture nominees directed by women in history, regardless of who wrote them, ten were nominated for director. Twenty two were nominated for screenplay. The only film not nominated for either director or screenplay is Ava DuVernay’s Selma.

Happy five-year-anniversary to the day I spent losing my mind preparing to rewatch Tenet, which I hadn’t really enjoyed the night before, on a laptop on the floor of a windowless hallway with noise-canceling headphones and a pot of tea. It was one of the best days I’d had in months. Love Tenet.
