Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, friends, and everyone facing hatred simply for who they are. We will not back down to fear. We will not back down to hate. Equality will prevail. Love will prevail.

The LGBTQ+ rights movement has always fought for societies built on diversity, solidarity, and equality, and it still does. The LGBT+ community is attacked for one simple, powerful message: each and every one deserves to live, believe, and love without fear.

This weekend, people across Europe and beyond came together in solidarity against this horrific attack. The attacker wanted to erase Christopher Street Day. He failed. Christopher Street Day remains a symbol of resistance, love, and equality.

On Saturday night, a man drove a van into a crowd at Berlin's Tiergarten park, then attacked people with a knife. It happened near the Brandenburg Gate, right by one of Europe's biggest LGBTQ+ celebrations. One woman was killed. 29 people were injured.

Fear will not win. Love and equality will.

ELA and our people from all across Europe had an amazing seminar in Helsinki on 15 and 16 June. Two days of learning about campaigning and organising from each other. A special thanks to all of our speakers and everyone who attended for all the great conversations and enthusiasm.

ELA`s first Youth Assembly is taking place in Paris on 26–27 June. Young people from different left, green and feminist youth organisations across Europe are coming together to organise, strategise, build societies for the people and the planet, and defeat fascism across borders.
