The Global Wind Energy Council released their 2026 offshore wind report. 9.3GW installed globally with China leading.
BOOK REVIEW A grizzled Trotskyist turned mercenary leads us into cyberpunk London with his trusty AI-enhanced AK-47 in tow. Can he overthrow the oppressive government with a little help from his friends?
The 1985 Penn State football team was something else. Idk what they were putting in the water down in Happy Valley, but these guys look like 45-yr-old steel workers.
Picked up both these books for $5 to support Oregon Educators for Palestine! (Mochi is very excited.)
To my urbanist friends: is the Canadian pattern of transit oriented development that results in a sort of "skyscrapers in the suburbs" vibe considered good policy? ie does it result in higher mode share for transit and are people happy living in these neighborhoods? Genuinely curious.
Some really interesting stuff in the 2025 Statistical Review of World Energy from the Energy Institute.
BOOK REVIEW: Racial Melancholia, Racial Dissociation: On the Social and Psychic Lives of Asian Americans brings together two scholars, one a professor and one a psychotherapist. They interpret the case histories of Asian American patients in relation to racial identity, assimilation, and more.

@iea.org shows that AI is driving investment into new gas generation. In the US just the investment in onsite gas-fired generation for data centers exceeds $30B. If data centers were a country, they would be the second largest destination in the world for gas turbines over the last 15 months.
The band LMFAO released two studio albums: "Party Rock" and "Sorry For Party Rocking." These guys really made two albums, the second apologizing for the first, and then dipped. I love that for them.
Hot commie summer part two! Get in loser, we're doing socialism!
New issue of @catalystjournal.bsky.social has two good articles on strategies for Palestinian liberation, an excellent article on Milwaukee's "Sewer Socialists," and a good recontextualization of Trump's immigration policy (spoiler: it benefits capital to have a terrified, exploitable workforce.
Portland's flag is very cool although I think Chicago might take top spot
This article from @ericblanc.bsky.social on Milwaukee's "sewer socialists" feels relevant today as DSA expands its influence in cities across the US. This passage reminds me of what socialists are facing in Portland right now.
I know this has been posted so many times but it stays true
