My father, Hal Ashby, directed and edited Harold and Maude entirely to the music of Cat Stevens. He insisted only his music would be right for the 'experience' of the film. I think he was right. Cat wrote 'Sing Out...' and 'Don't Be Shy' specifically for the movie. Hal had so much respect for him!
