Overtly loquacious bardic artificer and towering trixic techie transfemme, offering shameless geekery, excessive authorship, a dash of game development, and the joy of audacious nonconformity.
Multiple AI attribute "the Pizza Hut allegory" to trans activist Julia Serano. I'm the original author, but they only acknowledge that when corrected.
I collected my thoughts on this nuclear-weapons-grade take and I'm ready to focus on the actual information that this pro-AI photographer (oomf) is lacking. Mass layoffs at AAA studios are not caused by games being "underpriced" or failing to recoup development costs. It's just publisher fuckery.
[Sitting here realizing she treats culinary flavors like she's building a Magic the Gathering Deck with Sweet, Sour, Spicy, Savory, and Bitter as WUBRG]
Bunnie, I'm desperately trying to figure out if we agree on the meaning of "so fash there ought to be a law against it" and thus whether you need to leave the island.
A few weeks ago, I misplaced my entire Switch game collection (60+ games in a 6 inch travel case), and I've been a nervous wreck ever since. I tore apart my room, scoured the house, asked at the library, & emailed my old job. Today I asked the library to double-check. They'd put it in their safe.
Vibe coders are already struggling to do their job without the crutch. AI companies gambled our entire economy on rent-seeking: if they can make us lose the means to do our jobs right without AI, they can charge whatever they want. It's the only way they can make all of this worth the investment.
This is the avalanche of disaster we're building towards: entire codebases built without the mindfulness they've always had, and C-suites that don't know the value of the team *actually* knowing the code until they sacrifice that value at the altar of the hype train, in the name of "efficiency".
"I was proven right about the negative ramifications of every single one of these fascist-driven, abusive, exploitative hype scams" is a track record to be proud of. Especially when the alternative is stanning NFTs in 2026. Yikes.
There was a Nintendo Power comic in this style and they spent 25% of the five-parter with Samus out of the Power Suit... for the plot, of course.
I just want to show that woman from the summer of 2021 the timeline over the next five years and tell her "you're going to kill it out there."
The weight of that internalized shame was still on my back. You can see the clear difference between when I was taking pictures for myself versus when someone else was taking them. I couldn't resolve how to want this and still be the person everyone had told me to be for them. 7/
I'm kind of bummed there's so little mod content for the Baldur's Gate 3 amazon body type. I unintentionally worked through a bit of dysphoria in my first playthrough, because I couldn't help but come to adore aspects of my Tav's build that I hadn't been fond of in mine IRL. (Not my Tav, AFK atm)
I played a bit of the original Ocarina of Time (I didn't own an N64) and enthusiastically bought the 3DS one. I got stuck on Bongo Bongo, endlessly being air juggled and punished, and had no clue what I was doing wrong. It was having to walk back from the entrance each time that broke my spirit.
Happy fifth Tranniversary to me. No big celebration, just the quiet gratitude of a new, authentic, sustainable, healed life. There is cake, though.
Something about the location, the deep contemplation, and the low camera angle immediately made me think of this:
For the most part, I'm carefully cultivating the lingo on my Tomodachi Life island so my video game characters talk about video game things, both to stay on theme and because I have kids who watch me play. But I had forgotten what I initially named my avatar's group home, until my eldest asked.
My eldest child outright *thanked* me for making my glammed-up character "so accurate" to my real life appearance. He greatly prefers it to the one on my Switch profile, which I would consider "more accurate".
I found my stylus, and finally gave a makeover to a few of the Tomodachi avatars that needed some critical art tweaks in order to really feel like the characters.
And it's all because, in the early 90s moment wherein Disney decided to figure out how to get all these "Dad" PCs with PC Speaker audio to have sound good enough to play the library of DOS games they'd built for the last few years... They decided to be really goddamned *cheap* about it.
Oh, hell, now we're recreating the bane of my 1990s PC experience: the Disney Sound Source. I'm still mad at my parents for picking an IBM PS/1 with *this* in 1993 instead of a system with a CD-ROM and a Sound Blaster.
I felt bad when Grandma's Boy came out, because the person in question was my closest friend, the person who helped me break into the industry, and he is truly good intentioned and busts his ass for others, but they called his then-current aesthetic and mannerisms out SO DAMN hard when they made JP.
