We tested 4-8 yos in a variation of our Cheng & Kibbe (2022) “memory game”. On some trials, all the to-be-remembered objects were visible at encoding; on others, one of the object’s identities was unknown so its identity had to be inferred by eliminating known alternatives. 3/6
New paper! Chen Cheng and I looked at children’s ability to use reasoning by exclusion to retroactively “fill in” the unknown identity of an object in working memory by ruling out known alternatives. We found some interesting results! 1/6 #devpsyc #psychscisky #neuroskyence
