There is only one party leader in England who has a manifesto that is reasonable, achievable, and broadly popular amongst people from all walks of life. His name is Count Binface. Vote Binface for Clacton!
The next Mayor of Greater Manchester will be a woman. But the Labour Party hate trans women, and Reform hate ALL women. So if you live in GM, give your first vote to the ONLY candidate who will stand up for ALL Mancunian women and girls: Geraldine Coggins! #VoteGreen
Dear Andy, It seems that in your haste to get out of Manchester and into Westminster, you forgot to build any affordable homes for the Mancs who need them. Don’t worry, Greens have got this. Coggins for Mayor! #VoteGreen
Flying the colours in Manchester today: azure and Green. Come on England! Come on Greens!
3 photos in this article on the Manchester Mayoral election: 1 of Labour candidate Bev Craig with Burnham, 1 of Craig's smiling face on 3 placards, zero of Green candidate Geraldine Coggins (just Zack taking selfie with random Green). Fixed it for you, Guardian. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
I really hope Geraldine Coggins wins, not least because Manchester needs an Irish mayor. Nobody understands Mancs’ economic needs better than an Irishwoman. Engels never could have written “Condition” without Irish mill worker Mary Burns showing him around town. open.substack.com/pub/lewiscal...
I was recently on holiday in Edinburgh. I got so sick of hearing about JK I actually told a waiter “yeah I don’t need to hear about that TERF.” I could tell from the stickers and graffiti that the city welcomes trans folx. And now they’ve elected two transgender Green MSPs!
Speaking as an immigrant called Lewis, I am delighted that Lewisham now has a Green mayor called Liam Shrivastava. Congratulations, Mayor Shrivastava!
Congratulations Man City Women, the 2025/26 Women’s Super League Champions!
Left: A House in Denton on 26 February, a Very Good Day. Right: My house on 7 May. Same house! #VoteGreen
A magnificent day here in the North! Walked the Rochdale Canal towpath from Todmorden to Hebden Bridge and it was absolutely gorgeous. Saw several "Vote Green" signs, along with this. West Yorkshire is making hope normal again! #Greenwave
This peculiar Edinburgh postbox has no royal cypher, so I can’t tell which monarch reigned when it was installed. Thankfully, a helpful Scottish republican has written “Abolish the monarchy” on it to remind everyone that it doesn’t bloody matter.
Congratulations Lionesses! England 1 - 0 Spain. Keira Walsh got her 100th cap AND served as team captain as our lasses won a crucial victory against one of the best sides in football!
Guardian article on greyhound racing quotes several Labour MPs who want to ban it & right-wing “Labour” ministers & Reform MPs who oppose the ban, AND DOESN’T MENTION HANNAH SPENCER MP, who famously campaigns on this issue and brought her greyhounds to Parliament! www.theguardian.com/news/2026/ap...
"When they come for our Muslim neighbours, when they attack our trans siblings, when they use women like me to further their scapegoating, when they try to make us feel small or tell us that we’re thick, we will not let them pull us apart.” —Hannah Spencer MP, Together Against the Far Right Rally
As Reform continues to embrace misogyny, Greens will continue to send talented women engineers, political economists, and plumbers to Parliament.
I attended my first football match since moving to England: the Manchester women’s derby! Congratulations Man City, who beat United 3-0 and made a big leap towards the WSL title! City’s Netherlands players Miedema and Caspaij were on fire!
Me too. "Spencer is plugged into the tastes of both the high street and younger voters.” —The Guardian, 28.02.26
Alan Turing is a hero who cracked the Nazi Enigma code and helped win the war! He’s earned his place on our £50 note! The draconian homophobic laws of Churchill’s Government drove Turing to suicide. Churchill SHOULD be replaced with a fookin otter! open.substack.com/pub/lewiscal...
Update: style re. professions. "Professions are permanent. Hannah Spencer MP is still a plumber and a plasterer. Now she is also Minister of Plumbing & Plastering, a title given her by the lads on her plastering course. Do not refer to her as a ‘former' plumber.” open.substack.com/pub/lewiscal...
When textile baron Humphrey Chetham died in 1653, he left money for a parish library in Gorton, filled with “godly Englishe Bookes. . .for the edification of the common people.” Today, the godly people of Gorton are Muslims, and they vote Green. open.substack.com/pub/lewiscal...
Humphrey Chetham funded this library for Gorton. Engels researched Condition of the Working Class in England at Chetham’s Library. Engels wrote of the “deep wrath” of workers vs. the rich. In Gorton today, & throughout Britain tomorrow, wrathful workers vote Green. open.substack.com/pub/lewiscal...
Hannah Spencer is even more amazing in person. Hard to pick my favourite quote from yesterday, but probably it was when she described Commons as “Eton debate club.” As for the Minister of Plumbing and Plastering, she will be meeting with the Palace of Westminster maintenance staff.
North West Green Party packed the Friends Meeting House in Manchester to hear Hannah Spencer MP. The Power Point deck is already obsolete; we’re getting a thousand new members a day and had 216k this morning
