Peter Cormack signed for Liverpool FC on 14 July 1972, that is three days before his 26th birthday. He arrived from Nottingham Forest to add some creativity and attacking threat to Liverpool's midfield line. A knee injury stopped his career at #LFC but he had great 4 years at Anfield.
'Mr Wrexham': Joey Jones mural on the side of The Turf pub in Wrexham. He started his professional career there and Liverpool FC signed him on 14 July 1975 for £110,000. Joey spent 3 years at Anfield, winning two First Division titles, the European Cup and the UEFA Cup. 'Joey ate the frogs legs...'

Galatasaray's Harry Kewell pictured together with Djibril Cisse, who played for Panathinaikos at that time. The former joined Liverpool FC from Leeds United on 9 July 2003, while the latter left the club on a permanent transfer to Marseille on 9 July 2007. 📸 l3o_, CC BY-NC-SA 2.0
A few days before his 21st birthday, Alou Diarra signed for Liverpool FC on 9 July 2002. Although he was on the club's books for 3 years, he never made a debut at LFC. A weird case: a footballer who was at both Bayern Munich and Liverpool, but never made a first-team appearance for either of them.
Harry Kewell became a Red on this day in 2003. Liverpool FC signed him from Leeds United for £5m. He went on to score 11 goals in his first season at Anfield, but a run of injuries and poor luck kicked in in later campaigns and he added only 5 more goals to that tally. 📸 Kevin Airs / CC BY-SA 3.0
Our Captain turns 35 today. Many happy returns, Virgil! Born in Breda on 8 July 1991, Virgil van Dijk joined Liverpool FC midway through the 2017-18 season. Having known Coutinho would be leaving for a big sum, the club didn't hesitate to invest £75m to sign Virgil. A bargain! 📸 Paul Moran
On this day in 2020: Liverpool FC travelled to Brighton and won 3-1 at the Amex. Neco Williams got his first start in the Premier League. Two goals and an assist from Mohamed Salah. 'Match timeline' has been recently introduced to LFChistory.net. How do you like it?
Liverpool scored 49 less league goals in 2014/15 than in the previous season so the emphasis in the summer of 2015 was to fix this problem. A creator and scorer supreme was needed. Their solution to the problem? Roberto Firmino! Bobby became a Red on 6 July 2015. 📸 Paul Moran
Our best wishes to Gary Gillespie who turns 66 today! The Scottish defender made 214 first-team appearances after signing for the Reds from Coventry in July 1983. Read more about Gary at LFChistory: www.lfchistory.net/players/306
Fernando Torres joined Liverpool FC 19 years ago today and he instantly became a sensation in the Premier League, bagging 24 goals in 33 games in his debut season. He was unstoppable and we all wish Liverpool could keep prime Torres for more time than they did...
Jose Reina signed for Liverpool FC from Villarreal on 4 July 2005 and he instantly became the No. 1 between the sticks for our team. He went on to play nearly 400 games for the Reds between 2005 and 2013. LFC fans loved the Spanish goalkeeper who kept 177 clean sheets for us.
Emre Can became a Red on this day in 2014. That goal at Watford in 2017... 📸 The Liverpool Way
The great and unforgettable goalscorer Billy Liddell died on 3 July 2001 at the age of 79. Billy first came to Liverpool FC in 1938 but it wasn't until 1946 that he made his professional debut. And then he went on to score astonishing 228 goals for the Reds! Photo courtesy of the Liddell family
A year has passed and it still hurts. We miss you, Diogo. Words can't describe how much we'd like to see you at Anfield - or anywhere else - again. On 3 July 2025 we woke up to the shocking news that Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva had died in a tragic car crash in Spain... 📸 Paul Moran
