J K Rowling is powerless in the face of the love of this small kitten; she knows only bitter cruelty, but this beautiful/ugly little munchkin knows only the eternal glory of Mum
Things feel grim sometimes as a chronically ill trans woman, but I'm finding new reasons to survive what Labour are throwing at me. There's spite, ofc, but more importantly... @liminalitea.bsky.social pointed out that when Vesper gets old she will look so weird and scrungly and I *have* to see that
I don't think Pippa approves of Vesper's controversial "sharing the hammock" proposal.
Tonight when I got in from my writing group Vesper got so excited she ran round the house yelling and demanded no fewer than three (3) cuddle sessions.
We regret to inform you that the heatwave has melted our cats together into one very long, very confused Frankencat.
I greatly appreciate that Count Binface's Wikipedia entry implies that all the other major parties stood down in the Clacton By-Election because he told them to.
How am I supposed to end my lunch break under these conditions?
You may blep all you want Vesper, I will still have to move you before I start work.
I write a lot of relic/religious-related horror so @liminalitea.bsky.social is always illustrating bones for me. I'm fond of this gouache picture they made for The Saint of the Von Hesselns, which I then used as a book cover as well!
This podcast got me so excited I made the library buy a copy of Anna's book. People of Islington, rejoice! (but let me finish with it first, I have a lot of recipes to get through. I am so excited.)
We got our cats a cooling mat for the heat wave. Now the heat is broken and Pippa is FINALLY SITTING ON IT.
Also shout out to the lambs ear plant, almost severed by the heavy storm on Monday but now rallying in a new and exciting shape.
I once amused my librarian partner by imagining the rules of a library run by the Fae. This extract from An Unofficial Guide to Obronstowe was my foray into faerie rules. There was also a sequel with a mobile library that went completely Baba Yaga. #HorrorWritersChat
Meanwhile Vesper has come down to cool herself by sitting *behind* the fan...
Frankly I find the inclusion of The Babadook in this list of iconic queer characters "for the memes" offensive. Consider instead Tobio in Wild Zero, a trans girl in a cheap Japanese zombie film who is allowed to get the guy, and has a metal singer berate her beau over his cultural transphobia.
In which Vesper realises she fucked around, and found out.
Post a robot that is not from Star Wars or Transformers
By far the worst example I heard of this was an American behind me squealing that Cambridge University Library, 1930s Brutalist masterpiece, looked "just like Hogwarts". No, it looks like this
"Muuuummmmm, you're being boring." Vesper will never understand the concept of working from home, she is truly a blessed creature.
The duality of cats: Pippa has found a nice sunbeam to sit in, while Vesper is in a darkened room hitting a giant paperclip about and muttering to herself
They were two of the first we named - they perched on us in a stack. Jenga died but Not-Jenga was there the last time I fed them before moving in July 2025. We first fed him in 2020 and he was an adult then! Pictured: him at the final feed, having eaten too many peanuts so his crop was overflowing
We had a pair who hung out on our window sill in our old flat. Weird little friends, they were.
But I don't want the genocidal empress with soul-eating hair to live in my village, who the fuck invited her? And other adventures in Octopath Traveller 0
My cats understand that biscuits are allowed if Mum has a blanket on her lap. It is now flowy skirt season (yay!) But guess what the cats think flowy skirts are? Blankets. It's going to be Needled-Leg Summer.
Apparently there's a cuddle tax for being read to.
