Lindsey the Artist
@lindseytheartist
I make art and jokes and mistakes. I am queer and autistic and delightful. Read examples of my work on my website lindseytheartist.co.uk If my art moves or delights you, please consider tipping
Attending to my day job is so intensely painful (boring), I just want to make art
A month ago I thought price stickers were a lost technology, but now that I'm looking I see them everywhere
Quentin Blake's art materials on display at the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration in London. GORGEOUS. All 3 exhibitions, Blake, Murugiah, and Queer Comics, were fab. My heart is full.
I got scared that i forgot how to draw so I copied this from a photo
I'm happy to report there is a third goose family at the park near where I live.
I've made many portraits of my magnificent face, I am always available for reference so it's very convenient #artist
One of my favourite mediums is ink wash, this little study is my very own eyes when I see how busy the supermarket is #artist
For a couple of years I went to a weekly life drawing session, it was super fun! #artshare
When I first came back to visual art in adulthood I didn't know if I could draw, so I started with making collages from free magazines #artshare
For about a year I drew comics featuring this version of myself called Spiderhead that helped me process finding out I'm autistic #artshare
One time I turned a mini sketchbook into a papercut forest scene #artshare
It occurred to me that I've been making art for a long time, so I could share a few pics.
I like doing things the analogue way, I'm fascinated by putting my handmade marks into a video #mixedmediaanimation
Happy Book Day! Here is a book I saw recently but I mustn't buy books right now because I have enough problems 💕
When you need to be ready for advent 2 months in advance but you also don't believe the world was created in 6 days #autismcoded
Trees. So good. Does loving trees this hard make me a druid?
I'm still not ready to shut up about how much I love autumn! I have brought a bit of nature up into my flat - I can't really access nature directly but store-bought is fine.
I've been participating in the classic autistic activity of trying to look at every stone on the beach and taking the best ones home.
I like making things. I remembered I had some book binding stuff so I'm testing it out. Do people hand make hardback zines/comics? I've heard of people printing and binding their favourite fanfic and that's a bit lovely.
Thinking about comfort characters makes you feel better so you’d think they’d be someone wholesome, but it’s often a serial killer, monster, the most toxic boyfriend imaginable, or somehow all 3 combined...
Sometimes I spontaneously back a Kickstarter, and because I've made the decision so quickly I don't remember it 3 months later when my little treat arrives
I forgot that by making a comic about myself I'd be subject to the mortifying ordeal of being known. These are all from the same comic, the style and colour shifts to reflect my emotional state at different parts of the story. I Am Perfectly Normal, available at the @ldcomics.bsky.social fair
