Encore Community Services is hosting a pop-up produce bag distribution at their older adult center at St. Malachy's Church throughout August. They will have up to 600 free 5-pound produce bags per week. The only criterion is age (60+). One bag per person per week the entire month of August.

As we head into Passover, it seems appropriate to stand up for our neighbors who are immigrants and support the New York For All Act. As Rabbi Hillel said, "If I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?" Now is the time to stand in solidarity with those being targeted and say "no more."

Rolling back CLCPA won't drive down energy costs, because it isn't driving them up. But there are many things the state could be doing to drive down costs. I urge the governor to work with us to implement those policies to save NYers money and meet our reality-based climate targets.

Today I was proud to vote for the State Senate's One-House Budget, the Senate's response to the governor's Executive Budget proposal. It's a responsible budget that asks the wealthiest and large corporations to pay their fair share, while delivering on affordability for regular NYers.

On this day, we can honor the radical and deeply human vision of Martin Luther King Jr. by challenging ourselves with a question: if we fully embrace the founding promise of our nation, that all people are created equal, what does that require of us as a society?

Although every day brings a new outrage against democratic norms, a new attack on the interests of regular Americans, or a new spasm that weakens our country on the world stage, still it is critical to the future of our democracy that we not forget or normalize the events of January 6th, 2021.
