Farewell Bill Oddie. The TV show was obviously magnificent (and stands up rather well I find) but and my brothers and I absolutely played this record smooth. Ironing my Goldfish. Spank that Hamster. And the chart-bothering but North-baiting A Man’s Best Friend is his Duck.
I was wondering why AI-generated flyers like the one that just landed on my doorstep are so unsettling. And I think it’s because none of the humans depicted are looking into another human’s eyes. They’re just gazing into a middle e-distance waiting for instruction.
I had somehow never seen this before this evening but @andrewmale.bsky.social triggered a need. What a gloriously bonkers movie!
Apparently I’m majority right-wing. Switching my votes, friends and family accordingly.
Never gave a round of applause to @panchoballard.bsky.social for his excellent Library Music record when it came out, but I’m listening to it now and it’s brilliant to work along to.
A message from my wife which is at the same time a terrible warning.
Interesting idea. But where will all the post-18th century immigrants go? And can an Aboriginal culture survive without immigrants to do the difficult jobs?
Four stars. Tremendous fun. I actually think Verbinski set out to make a Terry Gilliam film. He was one star away from succeeding.
I think if I just had to do this all day long and nothing else I’d be perfectly happy. It’s an expensive form of meditation but it bloody works.
What’s the most age-inappropriate thing you’ve done recently? Mine was buying a pair of Adidas trainers because Michael Carrick wears them.
Was reading about Newton Heath on Wikipedia and found the most Manchester picture imaginable
Every time you post this - and I do mean EVERY TIME - I go ‘hmm they’ve got Morrissey on at Kirkdale, brave choice’
A sign that always brings me a stab of nostalgic pleasure. Take it where you can find it.
