Sorry it is backlit but this is a cosplay of the now famous Sickos cartoon panel as seen in the Onion. Thee are my two 17 year old rig nuggets

Grey kitty is Dorian and the black longer haired one is Hazuki. They are siblings and the cat distribution system gave them to us when they were 8 weeks old found in my neighbors took shed - my Brazilian Landscaper neighbors didn’t know what to do with them so they asked me. I immediately said I will take them. It turns out that I was going to look for cats to adopt a month after that and the cat distribution system visited me just before that.

This weekend Lookie Lookie played at a wonderful location called Lou's on Brattle St. in Cambridge. I highly recommend checking them out for either dinner or brunch because their food is absolutely bangin'. Read the Alt-Text in the first photo for much more information. www.wearelous.com

A view from the back of the club to the front. They make their own sourdough bread and apparently the head chef keeps a 25 year old starter for it. (had some toasted this morning, it was stellar). Their drinks are really, really well done too. Prices are reasonable, given location and quality - I'd say ave. $22-$34 for entrees. It's not cheap eats, but it's also not break-the-bank fancy. Exceptional quality all around.
The atmosphere was like an old-school supper club with a cool retro look. There is a small stage in the back of the establishment. They have a lot of live music and they were so welcoming and accommodating AND treated us so well. It was such a fun time to play for both last night's dinner crowd and for the brunch this morning. The place was full and energetic. The vibe (especially for a Bugalu band that specializes in Puerto Rican music from the 60's was absolutely on point.)
Apparently they're really, really interested in building back a part of the community that we've lost a lot of in that area over the past 15 years - live music and entertainment. Seeing how many people came out last night and this morning really was a bright spot where I know it's been really hard to get audiences to come out - and it was COLD last night to boot! They have Jazz Brunches and they're starting up (from what I hear) a monthly Drag Brunch.
I'll be back there with Swampanova on Friday, Feb 13th and Lookie Lookie will be returning as well (once I have dates I'll post them)
I have to say it was one of the best sets as far as club dates go that I've had in a while. Lovely staff, great crowds, and a real chance to have a really hip spot in Cambridge again. I'll post their website below. (also check out their info on free parking at Harvard Square Garage for patrons as they validate on the website)

I grew blue corn last summer and have made my own masa - pickling lime can be found in the grocery stores which makes it so easy to do. After soaking overnight the corn blends easily.

Blue corn I grew in 2021. After this I had two seasons of chipmunk destruction of all my corn. In 2025 however I figured out how to keep them out again! Masa was made by soaking overnight in pickling lime and then blending the next day.

2025 Blue Corn from my garden. I ended up with about 6 more ears after this part of the harvest.

Parking in Boston all day is not any kind of reasonable thing, so I am schlepping my bari sax, bass clarinet, and backpack full of stands on the T so I can get to Berklee. But it’s all totally worth it because today is the 8-Bit Big Band performance (and band hang which is one of the highlights too)
