No, individuals directly (“other” below) and indirectly (mutual funds) are the largest holders. Pension funds and insurers combined are less than half of mutual funds alone. This is a couple years old now, but recent years have only made common insurance funds and pension assumption less true.
It’s funny because this is just a microcosm of what is happening at scale, and likely an efficient allocation of resources, when the incentives are structured poorly. Entirely predictable, and hurtling towards a hard reset.
Look at the top companies in this US ESG ETF (ESGV), made up mostly of companies that abandoned their ESG targets 🤔
