SNES Collection #29 of 47 My favorite football game was Tecmo so I really wanted the baseball version. This game was also heavily based on stats which I loved. However, it didn’t seem to stand out as much because lots of baseball games were pulling off the stat aspect well by this time.

I’m more receptive to puzzle games like this today, although I’m not too good when the action gets frantic. But back then? Puzzle games weren’t on my radar. I’ve heard stories of a lot of moms who dominated their kids in this game!

SNES Collection #28 of 47 While I played plenty of Punch-Out on NES, I never owned it. I was excited to get my hands on this one. This series in general is very good and I wish Nintendo would bring it back today. Who can forget Rick and Nick Bruiser? 😂

SNES Collection #27 of 47 One of the many RPGs I picked up on SNES. I don’t have many specific memories of this one except it didn’t feel as polished as the more popular games in the genre. I recall there being spelling errors in the text. But still, it was an RPG so I was all in!

I never did like when Nintendo Power made strategy guides a part of their numbered issues. But I’m sure getting to put Super Mario 3 on the cover a second time within a short period was good for sales. 😂

SNES Collection #26 of 47 I specifically remember picking this game out of a bargain bin well after it had released. I was never a huge Mega Man fan but figured with it being cheap I would check it out. It would be the last Mega Man I would buy until Mega Man 9 on WiiWare many years later.

SNES Collection #25 of 47 I guess I wanted a boxing game! I probably read a preview in a magazine. This game isn’t bad but I couldn’t play for long periods of time due to thumb fatigue quickly setting in. I recall being able to work the body to tire the opponent.

SNES Collection #24 of 47 The SNES turned me into an avid rpg fan with games like this. The opening scene was full of color and lush greens. It always put me in the mood to play. And the main music theme, awesome! Still have the price tag on the box, lol.

SNES Collection #23 of 47 I counted down the days to this game, couldn’t wait. It was the first time I would own a version of Super Mario Bros 2. But the Lost Levels is what was really exciting. That is until you played and discovered, damn, these levels are too hard to be fun! 😂

SNES Collection #22 of 47 I didn’t buy this. A relative got rid of their SNES and gave it to me. There is no way the instruction manual would be that beat up if I owned it the entire time! 😂 I can’t even remember playing this. I’m sure I did, but it must not have been much.

What a time this was! Anyone with some good SMB3 stories?

SNES Collection #21 of 47 I bought this the day it released, and soon discovered I didn’t like it much. I did not realize what a strategy rpg was at the time and expected it to be like Final Fantasy. I knew it had lots of endings so I thought I’d play it a ton. I never even beat it once, lol.

Early Nintendo Power covers were unique. This is probably the issue that convinced me to buy Mega Man 2. I couldn’t say no to those big colorful screen filling bosses.

Got the itch to revisit some NS2 games…Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour! Been earning more medals. Some are beyond my skill level. This mouse challenge is like the game Operation in which you can’t touch the sides. But to miss the medal by this much…no!!! I did get it a few attempts later, haha.

SNES Collection #20 of 47 While I was getting Madden every year for Christmas, this is the football game I couldn’t wait for. Stat tracking like you wouldn’t believe, extremely fun gameplay, this is by far my favorite series of football video game.

Summer of ‘88…100+ pages of Nintendo goodness including 20 pages on Super Mario 2 alone! You could spend hours looking at pics of games you knew you would never be able to buy. But it was fun to dream!

Reading modern gaming magazines takes me back to a simpler time, if even for a little bit. A time before I was bombarded with negative news and toxic opinions every day. It’s nice to take a break from the screens we all spend too much time on.

SNES Collection #19 of 47 Some purchases you just shake your head. What was I thinking? I actually remember buying this and rationalizing it would be fun with my girlfriend to pretend we were gambling. It wasn’t. I don’t even like to gamble irl. Real game collections don’t include all bangers!

SNES Collection # 18 of 47 I got this as a Christmas gift from my dad. This would start a tradition of many consecutive Christmases in which I would receive the new Madden game. I was a diehard NFL fan at the time. Still no player names in this version yet. No tracking of yearly stats either!

SNES Collection #17 of 47 Being a big Ghosts ‘n Goblins NES fan, there was no way I was passing on this. Beautiful graphics and amazing music, it did not disappoint. May have been a little easier than the original, but if it was it wasn’t by much.

SNES Collection #16 of 47 This was the first baseball game I owned that had actual MLB players included. I was a relatively new MLB fan at the time so learning the players while playing made it extra special. However, I’ve played so many baseball games I remember nothing specific about gameplay.

First time I’ve done this with the N64 version of Star Fox in probably decades. I was curious to compare it to the NS2 version. Found the N64 version a little more difficult.

I’ve never been a wrestling fan but I did enjoy playing this…way back in the day!

SNES Collection #15 of 47 Another Christmas gift from my dad except this one I definitely asked for. I loved this game, especially the ghost house track. Who would have thought this was the beginning of a mega franchise? I certainly didn’t.

Decided to play some NES baseball on this July 4th, Bases Loaded 2. I lost 10-5. Considering all of the blunders I made, not bad, haha.

Finally cleared one of the tougher P-Switch challenges! Not pictured, my first 30 attempts! 😂 I still like the fact I can drop in Mario Kart World a year later and find new challenges I’ve never attempted.

SNES Collection #13 of 47 Man, talk about a game living up to expectations! Finding out after many hours of play that there was a whole separate world to be explored was shocking. I wish I could remember more details about the day I got it but surprisingly I’ve got nothing. Does anyone else?

Thought the demo of Kingdom Hearts 3 was fun. Never understood how this series wasn’t on a Nintendo system until recently. Added to my wishlist.

SNES Collection #12 of 47 The gaming magazines told me I had to have this. I had never played a fighting game like this so took a chance. Not for me. It didn’t take long to realize I didn’t like it. To this day I have no interest in most fighting games. But at least I tried it!

SNES Collection #11 of 47 My dad got me this for Christmas. I’m not sure why. I liked the show but didn’t watch it much. This game is weird which makes sense considering it’s about dreams. I played it here and there but can’t remember if I ever beat it. It was never a favorite of mine.
