Long Island DSA recognizes and remembers the Stonewall Riots. On June 28, 1969, queer people fought back against a police raid at the Stonewall Inn, igniting a movement for LGBTQ+ liberation. One year later, the first Pride marches honored their resistance.

Today marks the anniversary of Obergefell v. Hodges, affirming the fundamental right of same-sex couples to marry. As LGBTQ+ rights face renewed attacks on Long Island and across the country, Long Island DSA remains committed to the fight for liberation, equality, and justice.

Long Island DSA celebrates LGBTQ Families Day 🌈 LGBTQ+ families come in many forms, but all deserve safety, dignity, and the freedom to thrive. Today and every day, we stand with LGBTQ+ families, defend trans kids, and support the fight to abolish ICE.

Republicans are advancing H.R. 7661, a bill that could affect millions of kids by restricting access to books addressing topics such as LGBTQ+ identities, puberty, and sex. Here are a few books loved by chapter members that could be affected if this legislation becomes law.
