UK friends - UNNAMED BONES will be available at a bookstore near you on August 13. You know the drill about preorders being appreciated and supporting your favorite local indie. 🖤🖤🖤
Left stacks of signed books at my favorite local indie bookstores - Auntie's and Wishing Tree in Spokane, WA. They're wonderful and deserve all the love and they ship! 🖤
UNNAMED BONES is out today. I'm really proud of this one and have my fingers crossed it will find its readers. This is my sixth book which feels both like so many and not enough - I came to writing late and I always feel a bit like I'm making up for lost time. 🖤
Reminder for anyone with young readers: UNNAMED BONES is NOT middle grade. It might be totally fine for your kid but know it has violence, gore, swearing, and basically non-stop bad stuff. I think it's a lot of fun and your kid might too! I just want to manage expectations. It's out tomorrow. 🖤
UNNAMED BONES is out one week from today so I asked my kids to take pictures of it for me. The Girl Child went full designer mode and included my back catalogue, relevant information, Bird, and a Clackity hand. The Boy Child went clean and simple. Preorders and library requests very appreciated.
It's paperback release day for PENNIES-a Blight Harbor prequel-and my author copies just showed up on my porch. There's something special about this book for me. Maybe it's just that I love these four girls so much. Plus I'm super-extra in love with this cover by @redolaf.bsky.social and Karyn Lee
Me again. One week until PENNIES - a Blight Harbor prequel - is out in paperback. Two weeks until UNNAMED BONES - ya survival cosmic horror - is out in hardcover and paperback. You can pre/order signed copies of these and all my titles from Auntie's and Wishing Tree Books in Spokane, WA. They ship!
Excited to share that my adult debut is coming summer 2028. DEATH NO. 114 is something new from me but my hope is it's full of heart and weirdness and recognizably mine-just with more nastiness and violence and swears. I'll yell about it more soon but happy to have the announcement out in the world.
Just wrapped up line edits on the fifth Blight Harbor book. The working title of this one was Bone Tree Grove - a callback to Pennies. But then I realized it should be called Dear Desdemona - a callback to The Clackity - and that just felt right. Dear Desdemona will be out summer '27. 🖤
It's here! The first graphic novel by my friend @redolaf.bsky.social is here! Everyone in my house is excited to read it. I've had the honor of working with Alfredo for the entirety of the Blight Harbor series and could not possibly be happier to celebrate the publication of his first solo book. 🖤
Loved visiting Wishing Tree Books while we celebrated Pride in Perry yesterday. A wonderful event in a beautiful neighborhood. 🌈
One month until UNNAMED BONES is a thing in the world so I'm sharing these blurbs from some brilliant and generous authors. Thank you @johnlangan.bsky.social @adamcesare.bsky.social @paultremblay.bsky.social @annfrairv.bsky.social and @robertottone.bsky.social for your time and your kind words. 🖤
If you're in the area, stop by and help celebrate the opening of a brand new independent bookshop. I'll be there chatting and signing books today from 3:30-5:00.
⭐✨ GIVEAWAY(on Instagram)✨⭐ One month and one day until UNNAMED BONES is a thing in the world AND I have one more ARC to give away. So... let's keep this simple. Like this post Share it however you want. Comment whatever you desire. That's it. I'll notify the winner on Tuesday the 23rd. 🖤
Hey Spokane-CdA Friends - Join me this weekend for the grand opening of a new independent book store in our area! Paragraphs and Pages 21801 E Indiana Ave Liberty Lake, WA 99019 See you there!
UNNAMED BONES hardcovers are here and they're so, so beautiful. Friends, I'm really proud of this one. Extra special thanks to my incredible editor @ardyce.bsky.social who helped me make this story the best, scariest, and strangest it could be. UNNAMED BONES is out July 21.
UNNAMED BONES is being released simultaneously in HC and PB. Today my finished paperbacks arrived. Illustrator Margot Reverdy and designer Julie Robine created something so, so special and I am beyond grateful to have their work accompany my words. I mean the detail is *incredible.*
Ooooooh I think finished copies of UNNAMED BONES might be here tomorrow!! Cannot wait to hold them in my hands. I'm really proud of and excited about this one. More to come soon (I hope)!
The Girl Child made ambrosia today (thanks Epic the Musical). She served it out of my grandma's crystal bowl. I hadn't had ambrosia in maybe 30 years. Full on 10/10 nostalgic experience.
For all you librarians, booksellers, and other bookish sorts who might enjoy a bit of YA cosmic survival horror - UNNAMED BONES is on @netgalley.bsky.social and Edelweiss!
My dad died today. He was sick for a long time so I was prepared. Still a sad day. He was a complicated guy to care about but he loved his family and his friends fiercely. He was a great Papa to his grandkids. This is hard but I'm okay and he isn't hurting or scared anymore.
There are loads of indie bookstores I love but I spent time (and money) at two of them today plus a bonus comic book run. Happy Independent Bookstore Day to @auntiesbooks.bsky.social and Wishing Tree Books and special mention to @thecomicbookshopde.bsky.social 🖤
Thank you Junior Library Guild for selecting PENNIES for a Gold Standard Award. Having books recognized by jlg means a lot. 🖤
Wrapped up revisions on what I hope is the first book of a new middle grade series. I drafted this one in a month but with lots of life and day job stuff going on revisions took longer than they should have. Excited to try and find a home for Edna's Keep.
I think about this poem by William Hughes Mearns more than is probably healthy. Channeling it into an adult manuscript. We'll see what happens.
I was given some lovely things for Christmas but this ornament from my niece nearly made me cry (which for a non-crier is basically the same thing as crying). It was when she talked about adding to it that I had big feelings. I am a fortunate human.
