7/19/26: We scored 8 in the 1st, an inn. Paschal started w/a 1B & topped off w/a 2-run HR. Shocker got himself out of a few jams & we beat #StLouis 11-2. Ernie Nevers, the #Stanford #football star, pitched the Browns' last 6 & pretty good too. In 3 tries against him all I mustered was a SF. #Yankees
7/18/26: Got shut out today, our 1st time all year. Tom Zachary was difficult to hit & had all sorts of help from Gerber & Mellilo. They combined for 21 error-free chances, incl. 4 DPs. We got to 2B only 2x all day. Ken Williams' HR in the 3rd put the game out of reach early. #StLouis 4, #Yankees 0.
7/13/26: Down 3-0 in the 3rd, Combs hit a 2-run 3B; down 4-2 in the 6th, Bengough hit a 2-run 2B! But the #Tigers kept slapping grounders & scored again in the 7th. We lost 5-4. We’ve won only 5 of our last 16. I’m 4 for my last 35 AB. Our 10 game lead over the #Athletics has dwindled to 6. #Yankees
7/12/26: Uhle (now 3-0 vs us this year) gave up just 4 1Bs & K'ed 8 of us while Burns & Joe Sewell each hit HRs in the 1st, & #Cleveland beat us 6-2. Dugan BBed the bases full in the 3rd, but Ruth K'ed, I grounded out & Combs flew out. Aft that we didn't get another guy on base til the 9th. #Yankees
7/11/26: Thomas was strong thru 7 but fell apart in the 8th when he was rattled by (of all things) bunts by Summa & Luke Sewell. Spurgeon’s 3B was the death knell. We got 10 H off Levsen but to no avail. Our chance at a rally in the 7th died when Luke picked Combs off 2B. #Cleveland 8, #Yankees 2.
7/10/26: In a game that saw us thrown out by #Cleveland OFs 5x, rally-ending catches by Combs & Dugan, 16 gamblers ejected from the bleachers & a 30 min rain delay, I muffed a fly that led to 2 R in the 8th but also (aft being hitless all day) hit a game-ending 1B in btm of the 12. #Yankees win 4-3.
7/9/26: Clark Griffith says we've peaked & won't win the pennant. Bosh. Today we trounced #Cleveland 8-2. Paschal hit an inside-the-parker in the 3rd & a 2-run 2B in the 4th, tho it was somehow overshadowed by Ruth’s solo crack to deep RF. Jones let only one man to 2B in the last 6 innings. #Yankees
7/8/26: Lost 6-1 today, our 3rd straight loss (5th of our last 6!). Uhle & Pennock were both on top of their game. The only difference came in the 3rd when Lazzeri fumbled a 2-out bases-loaded grounder to let in a run & then Carlyle misjudged Lutzke’s flyball, clearing the bases. #Cleveland #Yankees
7/5/26: I should note that in today's double bill, Lefty Grove won game 1 & saved game 2. In 12 IP, he gave up just 7 H, 2 R & 1 BB, while K'ing 14. This year against us #Yankees he's 4-1 w/50 Ks in 47 IP & a 1.53 ERA. Lifetime vs him, I'm 6-29 (.207) w/2 XBHs, 3 BBs, 2 SH & 12 Ks. #Athletics
7/5/26 (2): Lost 6-3. The rain, wind & mud had us slipping all over the field (Ruth even fell flat on his back fielding Poole’s 2B) allowing #Philadelphia to scrape out 6 R (on 2 H, 5 BB, PB, 3 SF & E). Walberg left in the 6th (hurt hand) & Grove came in later to silence our final threats. #Yankees
7/5/26 (1): Shawkey K’ed 10 #Athletics, yielded only 8 hits & should've beaten Grove (who K'ed 12 of us) 1-0. Dugan 2Bed in the 2nd & scored on Collins' 1B, but Koenig’s careless throw in the 7th & muffed easy catch in the 8th each led to runs. Lost 2-1. Hug is benching Koenig indefinitely. #Yankees
7/4/26: We scored 3 in the 1st off Coveleskie mostly due to rain-related Es by Myer & Bluege, but later found ourselves down by 1 aft 4. In the 6th Carlyle’s grounder took a freak bounce over Judge’s head for a 2B & Lazzeri knocked him min. before the rains ended the game: #Yankees 4, #Nationals 4.
7/1/26 (1): Shocker beat Johnson today in a toe-to-toe battle. Locked in a 2-2 tie til the 9th, Combs got on via Harris’ fumble & Koenig 3Bed him in ftw. My HR in the 6th had tied the score. #Washington filled the bases in the 2nd & 3rd but Urban didn't let any in. 3-1 vs. Barney this year. #Yankees
6/30/26: We hit Quinn hard early & ran up a 3-0 lead by the 2nd, but French's running catch of Lazzeri’s bases-full drive stopped the bleeding. I scored in the 7th on a WP aft I 3Bed, but the day belonged to Poole who HRed in 2 in the 6th & 2Bed in 2 in the bot. of the 9th. #Athletics 5, #Yankees 4.
6/29/26: Aft losing 4 straight @ #ShibePark we surged back today w/a 7-5 win over the #Athletics. I HRed in the 1st but was ejected by Hildebrand in the 4th for arguing over a called strike. Ruth (who also HRed) played 1B the rest of the way. Dugan (back from his ankle injury) went 4-4. #Yankees
6/28/26: Grove made us look like fools today. 10 Ks, 0 BBs & scattered 7 hits. Our only run came in the 1st when Lamar botched my fly ball & I got to 2B & Ruth 1Bed me in. Hoyt didn’t have much stuff & Poole’s 3-run 1B in the 5th sent him packing. Ruth's now hitting .396! #Athletics 7, #Yankees 1.
