Madonna really wanted to use ABBA's "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" in **Hung Up**, but getting permission wasn't easy. She wrote a heartfelt letter to ABBA's Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, expressing her admiration for their music. To make sure they got it, she even sent someone to Sweden to deliver it personally. They were so impressed by the song that they gave her the green light, which is rare since they usually say no to sampling requests.

There’s an entire genre of articles about words that mean radically different things in British and American English: the verb “to table”, for example, which means “open for discussion” in the former, and “shut the hell up about” in the later; or “homely”, which means “cosy and comforting” in Britain, and “the ugliest damn thing you ever saw” in America.
