Real-world data and clinical trials. Future epidemiologist. Biomedical & (ex-)chemical scientist. Not an instant internet expert, a real one. Mad like Byron, lefty like reality. Abject failure. Can be serious, often not. There will be jokes & swearing.
Viz's "The Bottom inspectors" strip was not the bit of their various dystopias I saw as the most likely one to come true But here we are in 2026 in the UK the fucking government is encouraging the citizens of this nation to harass other citizens of this nation about the nature of their genitals.
I fully dad-joked my 16 year old son today. I said I'd help him gather some references for his project by using AI. He replied "But dad! you said never use AI!" I said "I'm using Aged Intelligence." (No one was made happier by this joke. No one.)
When someone makes a joke and you miss it and reply accordingly, then they reply with humour and you take (apparent) umbrage, the conclusion is: You made a mistake. That's it. If you then reply "Whatever, enjoy your day" this appears unnecessarily passive aggressive. And here you are again!
I am continually reminded of the correctness of this quote. Forever. Forever and ever. And ever. It's fundamentally depressing.
I was in this cartoon and I do not like it. Too real. Too too real. Curse you and your accuracy @zachweinersmith.bsky.social ! Curse you!!!!! <sound of traumatised sobbing> [From the excellent SMBC here: www.smbc-comics.com/comic/ai-17 ]
ASIDE: From here: elitebritishadmissions.com/eton-college... A £200k salary nets you about £9800 a month. Eton costs about £72k a year of POST-Tx income (with a few of the usual activities like school trips etc). So that's £6k per month, leaving the equivalent of about a £60k a year salary.
YES! YESSS! My ever more gravity ruined middle aged buttocks are in your mind. Taste the inadequate fat dad vibes radiating from them. One must imagine my buttocks happy. And evil. Darth Gluteus.
They 100% think that The Bottom Inspectors from Viz comic are a good idea.
The other week I had a rant about why the use of LLMs (not necessarily other AIs) in pharma is likely to be either mundane (i.e. what the technology is actually capable of doing) or drastically harmful due to hype/profit motive/regulatory capture etc. From here: futurism.com/artificial-i... 1/2
This sort of thing? Is the elderly relative having a belated midlife crisis? Have you checked for signs of a mullet haircut and a sudden predilection for the works of AC/DC?
This is, in fact, the long sought elusive third gender. You know the engineer's flowchart show below? There's another arm to it. Does it move? YES (Sniff it) > Does it smell of WD40? YES (Fuck it)
A play in some parts: "Hi John" "Hi Louis" "Pint?" "Absolutely!" "Family good?" "Soooo what about those trans people and their human rights, eh?" "Bit of a topic shift, John, old son. But, yes, I'm a big fan. Boffo. Terrif. Go for it trans people." "I don't understand being trans." 1/n
This Shakira Law in Europe has gotten out of hand! Ban all immigrants! Teach the controversy! The hips do lie! [THIS IS A JOKE! DO NOT ARGUE WITH IT!]
I'm reading this article: www.texasmonthly.com/news-politic... One of the things we liberals/centrists/lefties/progresssives/non-bloody-fascists ALWAYS forget, and are frighteningly too complacent about, is that the conservatives (of whatever kind) are highly motivated and mean.
I have just read this in the Guardian's recent Blind Date article. I've never heard it called "the Circle Line" before. Did they get off at Embankment? Did they switch to the Bakerloo line and go...south of the river?
This Bryan Johnson thing is... ...sorry. Look. It's just funny. The level of ludicrousness is beyond rational interrogation. (It's also mockable misogyny, which *isn't* funny, but does deserve to be mocked until it glows)
Oh PLEASE tell me he is taking the same "power stance" advice from some PR person that the Tories did in the early years with Osbourne, May et al.
I don't know when reality jumped the shark, maybe ages ago, maybe it hasn't yet, but I think that future historians will be able to successfully argue that this was yet another option. Fuck me deftly.
