Starting to talk more about the game I’ve been noodling on in my free time. Meldodrama Drive is the working title - I’ve found making little posters every once in a while is a nice way to check in with myself on tone/presentation. These are from a couple months ago and still lines up, I think.
I’m starting to talk about the game I’ve been making a lil bit. Car and room included.
Monuments to Guilt had a little museum radio doo dad for additional context to the exhibit but as I landed on the final tone of the thing it just didn't fit to have my goofy voice bothering you with inane insight you could gleam just from looking around.
Cut this bench cos I couldn't figure out how to show it in a museum. Do I include the ground it's set in irl? Do I model out the bits sunk into the ground and show those? Do i cast it into a kind of plinth? All options felt like too much work to explain, or too much brain work for the visitor.
Still thinking about powerpoint using 71GB of ram on my 16GB macbook the other day
got a junk email from a company that sells reference materials for food safety regulations (I think?) and I'm hooked.
I made an additional website to log the bench models that didn't make it into the final release of Monuments To Guilt as well as a few I've seen since. Probs the most accesible/low key way to see a bunch of ugly benches today, without going outside at least. tinyurl.com/guiltcatalogue
the year is 2025 and i still cannot get over the magic of baking high to low.
ok maybe making my 3D portfolio breakdowns look like album art is not the best use of my time but...
Can someone tell me what this computer is? Featured in xfiles s1 ep7. I must know so I can add it to my list of old computers I’ll never own.
Found my happy place - turns out it’s three Minitels drawing letters and shapes
Lara has potentially the slowest block pushing animation ever and I’ve got all the time in the world for it.
heh, I loaded up Sims 4 and found a bunch of the modernist buildings I built & uploaded like 10 years ago. Ridiculous how long it took me to realise I wanted to learn 3d modeling.
eyyy Monuments To Guilt hit 10k downloads sometime in the last month. That's neat. I think this is the first WIP screenshot i took. if you're looking for deep MTG lore, this room started as a modified version of a previous project -> www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJrs...
My instagram is probs the better place if you rele only wanna see my work. Any personal stuff is relegated to stories so you can just ignore lol. www.instagram.com/louisthingss...
mine's the earlier model without the clamshell but assuming thats really the only difference - the biggest errors i made is the corners radius is too large as is the interior screen bevel.
I modelled a Minitel a couple years back. Now that I actually have one to compare I can confidently say I did an okay job.
My minitel doesn’t do anything other than let me type one line of text so it is now my one task only reminder tool.
ya know, modelling all those heckin benches has meant i've gotten pretty efficiant at making textures for concrete assets. so thats something to be grateful for, i spose.
