The ray fleck on this board is beautiful, it’s still rough sawn, not planed here!
The saw wants to do the least amount of work and the kerfs from the fences saw help guide the large rip saw. I’ve only planed two faces at this point
I have a fenced saw, a “kerfing plane” that I use to lay in all my cuts. When I’m trying to be very precise it helps a bit.
Making big pieces of wood smaller. (As always more info in alt text - I’m going to make a wooden jack plane.
Every now and then something I do breaks containment and I love when it’s like a pun or today’s example, my birthday cake post! Thanks for all the well wishes everyone! Credit where credit is due, I used this recipe: eatwithclarity.com/gluten-free-...
I turn 47 tomorrow so yesterday I made myself some cake and made frosting this morning and then @lhvt.bsky.social saved my attempts at frosting. It’s really good!
Roughing in the perpendicular edge with a wooden plane that is also in need of sharpening.
Everything about this beech is telling me it’s time to sharpen my irons, but it’s also agreeable enough I’m not getting tearout so I’m persevering
I stumbled on the first one and then the rest started following me home. It here great for scribing molding.
Did I ever show off this absolutely insane rasp I ended up with
Don't ever look at your own lyrics because what sounds great in a song can look silly on the page.
“Faggot to fetish to unfuckable mess”. Old The Obvious Tells video
I mean it's only two sheets but I don't think L and I need a sheet of cookies each.
Dana does fun plays on things, in this case it's a play on this book. When I first saw the post and got excited my uncaffeinated brain hadn't picked up that it was a Nanoraptor post.
Met a delightful older woodworker (neighbor of my father) last week. He’s getting more limited in what he can do and wanted some of his tools to go to someone who would use them. He gave me a copy of Dunbar’s Windsor chair book along with a Lie Nielsen 85 scraper plane and an inshave. It’s an honor.
So cut one of the 32” 4”x4” in half and I’m going to tackle a toted jack plane. I’ve had less intense rip cuts, this was fun to do. Since the iron I’m using will be narrower I think I can get a molding plane blank out of the waste, we’ll see. First to square and true it.
My eBay watchlist is my new window shopping and I need a better hobby.
