Himself came around and submitted to some morning skritches. 🥰 #BirdPorch #Caturday
This will always be my favorite version of the Iliad and the Odyssey: Jane Werner Watson's 1956 adaptation for Giant Golden Books, gorgeously illustrated by Alice and Martin Provensen. My uncle gave it to me for my 9th birthday and I've read it at least hundred times.
In for my infusion now, but feeling pretty good: Greystoke, as we call him, is now my buddy. After these photos he went over on his back to be petted and rolled off the ledge... 😄
Part of the reason this is a Monday-er Monday than usual: it's the 14th anniversary of my dad's passing on the night of July 12th, the eve of my sister's birthday, which complicates the feelings, to say the least. It was nice to be reminded yesterday of good times with him, specifically art work. 🥰
When you're retired but Monday is still Monday. Might need a refill... ☕️😜
One of my favorites, our tree hydrangea, is in glorious and fragrant bloom today. #BirdPorch
One of the neighborhood ruffians, dubbed "Greystoke" by my husband, has been too skittish to approach, but the past two days he has stayed put till I got very close, and even rolled over and stretched at one point, very obviously flirting. Maybe we can be friends?... 🥰 #Caturday
Jeez, these soccer commentators really talk nonstop, don't they... 😬
In happier news, I received this terrific #BookPost a couple of days ago, The Forgotten Five: Escape From the Contingency, newsprint nostalgia edition, complete with a cover by our friend, Scott Brooks! 🥳 @alexsegura.com
I got flowers unexpectedly from one of my oldest online friends, with a note saying, "Just sending you love and sunshine." 🥰
I have the sweetest friends! A completely unexpected delivery this afternoon. 😍💐
Tucker GA current weather screen: 91F feels like 102. Still, I'm sitting under the ceiling fan on the #BirdPorch for as long as I can stand it, because it's dark smothery inside.
Took a stroll at Tucker Town Green after coffee at The Corner Cup this morning and saw them setting up for the US vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina World Cup watch party tonight. If only it were going to be about 20 degrees cooler, we might be tempted to go... Bonus: kids' chalk drawings on the sidewalk.
Happy #CanadaDay to all my folks either there or from there. You make the world, and my world in particular, a better place! 🥰
On top of a head cold, 95F temps, and the relentlessly bonkers news, I am reminded today that I am older than the US Interstate Highway System. 🙄😂
Happy Sunday, Womble! Still taking my time with Molly Crabapple's Here Where We Live Is Our Country (the brain fog is hard even on the best nonfiction, and I don't want to miss a word!) There's a lovely pile to pick from after that, with Ali Trotta's latest poetry collection next.
Surprised and very pleased to receive this lovely #BookPost from @alwayscoffee.bsky.social much earlier than expected!
The witch's hat is still the worst one to me: one person would hang on one side, and three or four others on the other side would swing them around ten feet off the ground. Fun times! 😬
Our regular morning visitor these days. He's letting me get closer than usual, but with the same baleful eye. The mister has named him Greystoke. 😏
I'm going to want to rewatch the entire series again after reading this, aren't I?... 🙃 #BookPost
Deep in the post-infusion doldrums this afternoon, but here's a positive from our recent trip to Oklahoma: Larsen Music is still there, in the same place after 90 years! So many other things have changed or are gone altogether that it was great to see it. 🎉🎶🎸
Happy Father's Day to my husband, who will absolutely wear this insane hat to do yard work. Which is why we got it for him, because we are insane too. 😏
One more photo from the lovely Philbrook garden. I kept hearing Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony playing in my head - thanks, Disney. 😏 #BlueSkyArtShow
The Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, OK, from our trip last week. Incredibly beautiful place, with a great collection. #BlueSkyArtShow
A chunk of tree came down in the back yard while we were away, and this imposing stag beetle was in it! The mister placed him safely in the bushes. Makes me think twice about walking around barefoot... 👀 #BirdPorch #BugSky
The Black Keys Peaches 'N Cream Tour 2026 equipment truck, parked at the I-40 eastbound rest area outside of Palestine, Arkansas. The band was not in attendance, as far as we could tell. 😉 #RoadTrip
Revisiting the past is exhausting, but look what was over the front door of the church in NW Oklahoma City where we got married! 😍🎉🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
