PSNI say "it's too early" to tell if loyalist paramilitaries are orchestrating racist riots in Belfast. But they are long thought to play a role. One recent NGO report noted that "the involvement of elements of loyalist paramilitarism in racist violence and intimidation" was "well documented".

Racism against the Chinese community has not gone away - as evidenced by testimony by the CWA at a the Stormont committee last week. But this history is important to note, as today some try to disguise their racism by saying they are not against all migrants (e.g. infamous Nolan interview Aug '24)
