Yesterday was the seedling sale. It's still too cold out at night to leave them outside alone, but I can't bring them in because 1. no room, and 2. I already saw an aphid and aphids are NOT allowed in the house. So I made the seedlings a very fancy custom greenhouse. 🤣
@starrystarrynights.bsky.social I'm proclaiming today to be Tree Day here. After days and days of rain (and attempts at snow Wed afternoon and last night) the sun came out this morning and KABLAM!
'My' raven has trained me well: call until I come outside with the camera, then pose patiently as I walk back and forth in search of a clean background for portraits.
She told me she's going to do a painting of this photo next, but was pondering putting a bird on one of the pilings. I've seen bald eagles and great blue herons perched there, so we went through what I have of both and she chose this heron to work from. I can't wait to see the result!
I told her all along that she always has free reign to add, delete, or combine anything from any of my photos, so the painting I received today is based on this photo with the addition of a pair of Mallards on the dock at the bottom.
When surrounded by trees and (for weeks at a time) clouds, a person can become a bit obsessed with how they interact. That person is obviously me.
Tried again because the first go-round was so ridiculous. Now I'm convinced the dictionary is just fucking with me, and that my phone is also in on it.
The front page of today's (weekly) paper made me feel better about my BNL pics. It wasn't just me, the lighting really was just that challenging.
This one is not a 'good' picture (grainy, wonky lighting, and the blur of someone's head at the bottom), but I kinda like it anyway.
It's been entirely too long since I've taken any concert pictures, so I'd forgotten how crazy challenging the lighting could be when dealing with spotlights, footlights, and lasers outdoors in the dark. I think this is about the best I managed to get.
I really needed this today. Weather cooperated (a break in the rain and temp stayed above freezing), BNL and crowd had fun. Will maybe post some pics tomorrow.
My first Christmas tree since I can even remember. (I dont have space or any need for a full sized tree.) Some years I've put lights and lightweight ornaments on my umbrella tree, but it hated that, so my dad made me this one.
Crows sometimes land at my feet as I wait to cross the street, but this morning is the first time the raven has done that.
Every time I make this soup, I just have to laugh at how disgusting it looks. It's good, I swear!
The weather is weathering today. Please excuse the suckitude of my phone's camera, I didn't have the good one with me.
I went out on the lake this morning to take pictures of fall foliage, but there really wasn't any. The trees are almost all still green. I did see three Pacific Loons and two bald eagles though, so there's that.
Yes, I'm still working on yesterday's photos. I think I will be for a while yet.
I took SO many pictures of that truck (of course I showed the owner what I was doing). Here's another closeup on the left, a slightly wider shot of the actual design on the right.
Some of my photos are turning out even weirder than I expected, and I expected weird!
I'm working on processing photos, but my brain is screaming at me 'No! Nap! NOW!!' So I'll pick this up later, but here's a random selection of what I've gotten through so far.
