Rare Book #Librarian, #editor, bereaved parent of Caitlin. 12x Hugo Award winner. bi/pan/queer. Head @illinoisrbml.bsky.social; Verity podcast; ex-Uncanny Mag. #aerialist. My opinions. she/her. #DoctorWho New book:
This is why New Orleans is always a pleasure to visit as a food city. Even the most basic version of the hotel breakfast buffet goes hard. Not pictured: omelette station, waffle station, grits, biscuits & gravy, bagel/lox station...
For Science. Cafe du Monde. More "atmosphere" but the Cafe Beignet beignets are definitely superior. Sorry.
🎶It’s the most wonderful tiiiime of the year 🎶 aka fresh tomato season from the farmer’s market. #food
The North Star in Northampton, which was directly across the street from my dorm/house where the bookstore is now. My first non-college gay bar was Sisters in Philadelphia, along with The Bike Stop.
Now that I am awake from my surprise nap, time to start making this for dinner:
Apologies to my in-person colleagues who get to spend the next couple of days listening to me do my Bill the Cat impression as this cold works its way out of me.
It’s hard to believe it has been 2 years since Caitlin passed. It went so fast, and so slow, simultaneously. I miss her laugh, and her slyboots smile.
Caitlin 's quilt arrived. They did a good job. (Hugo cat for scale). Will now spend some quality time crying really hard, as expected.
The White Christmas dress for formal night, as promised. #JoCo
Having made it to O'hare and through security, I present the MCGRIDDLE. OF.VICTORY.
Dinner at The Space before hanging out with friends. This is the Oklahoma smashburger, with duck fat fries. If there were an elevated version of White Castle, this is it. And I absolutely mean that as a compliment.
Well HELLO THERE, author copies of our new book 💅 @katy-katy.bsky.social
Penultimate leftover #jamvent: Rhubarb strawberry. I prefer when it’s more strawberry-forward. Vehicle: toasted sourdough with salted butter. The sharpness of the rhubarb has been so tempered (but not over sweetened at least) that it isn’t really all that distinctive an experience. B.
Leftover #jamvent this morning: cherry-violet leaves. Vehicle: toasted challah with salted butter. This is pretty good. Mostly cherry, just a whisper of floral on the back end, not enough to taste perfume-y, which is my usual complaint about floral-based flavors. B+
I chickened out at an hour twenty for the onions. 40 min only got me to “nicely sweated.” 😅
