the U.S. Geological Survey said that aftershocks of Wednesday's earthquakes in Venezuela are expected to continue. According to the latest USGS forecast, there is a 6% chance of an aftershock larger than 6.0 in the days after the main quake. There have been tremors every day above 4.3 in magnitude.

One sign of the high death toll is visible in the satellite imagery over a parking lot area behind the hospital where a large white area appeared after the earthquake. Graphic videos and photos confirm this.

Planet Labs imagery from September 22 2025 and June 27 2026 show the Hospital José María Vargas in La Guaira before and after the June 24 2026 twin earthquakes. The open area behind the hospital is filled up with white shapes in the June 27 imagery. Graphic social media video shared on Instagram showed hundreds of bodies in the same area.
