Macie hates it here
@macie
Symbolist art, recycled body parts, metal music, bad crafting, travel, gardening, WWDITS, Discworld. She/her. Lifelong Michigander.
Nothing to do this weekend but rewatch Murderbot for the 48th time and make stuff! 🧶
Nightly bowl of raspberries from the garden (with a bonus blackberry), and one of the many sweet little fireflies blinking around the yard. 🌱
My favorite piece at this year’s Scrapfest isn’t an entry but is available for sale: “Magoi” by idmato. Gorgeous.
Sorting through a little 2” crafting paper pad of pretty butterflies, Gibson Girls, and travel and discovered someone had a bit of extra fun at their job and nobody noticed.
And now I’m obsessed. I pulled out some stamps I’ve been saving for a few years and paper from Japan.
After my partner’s grandparents passed away almost 20 years ago I scavenged ephemera from their house hoping to make something crafty for his family. I’ve finally figured out a project for some of it using the button maker from my local “library of things.”
Traditional Father’s Day tomahawk throwing. I’m terribly out of practice. My baby brother is not.
If anyone would like to make their own fortune telling machine, I’m seeing some real potential in this case at @msusurplus.bsky.social.
I used to be so good at making fruit and veg surprise balls. These are just sad, but hopefully the recipients will find them amusing.
Donating blood at the Flint Red Cross for the last time. Just learned they’re closing up shop.
There’s a really comprehensive M.C. Escher exhibition at the Flint Institute of Arts through mid-September. Although most if not all of his greatest hits are included, this little fellow is my favorite piece.
Learning how to use a super fancy CNC at a @lansingmakers.bsky.social class!
Bloodywood in Detroit! (Flashing lights. Not sure why the audio is cutting out, and didn’t notice I stopped recording when the phone got thwacked.)
Home just in time to see Bloodywood in Detroit tomorrow. Their shows are really joyful and sweet and worth going if you can (but the sound is terrible if you watch from the side of the stage).
I did, but it was so sweet I could only eat a few bites! I ate much more of the praline brioche than I should have. Also really enjoyed the cervelle de canut at the first bouchon we went to. The food here is wonderful!
Le Bal des Ardents is my new favorite bookstore. Excellent music, tons of inappropriate, art, and political books, and Felicien Rops right out in the open.
