I got Morgan Talty's collection of recurring characters Night of the Living Rez because of the story in Never Whistle At Night. His sense of humour and pathos runs through cursed jars, rotting animals, methadone and really sweet moments of family among the chaos

Mrs Ames, by EF Benson, is full of his sharp satire of the middle/upper classes in the 1910s and 20s, with the story of a struggle with a newcomer who attempts to have an affair with her silly husband. I especially like the scene where Mrs Ames tells her and her ignorant son off regarding the vote

Had some very vague youthful memories unlocked watching Xtro with @leighamshardlow.bsky.social and @chrismeekings.bsky.social Aliens laying eggs in people, a grown man birthed from a lady, weird murdery circus people, a panther, it felt like everything happened but I don't know why

Obsession reminded me of that episode of the Twilight Zone where the creepy guy spikes Leela with love potion. It was genuinely spooky in places, very uncanny, and I really liked her scary literary type monologues

We had a good chuckle about this in the morning

The Cabinet, by Un Su Kim, starts as an imaginative novel with a story appearing by bits and pieces, including a woman with a lizard tongue, doppelgangers who get it on and dangerous imaginary crocodiles, and ends very violently. I liked it
