Thanks so much Peter! Yes, the shift from the blue pallette to the orange is good to see. Though I had a quick look through the papers this morning and it still looked like fun in the sun was the primary message.

David Hockney's photography was groundbreaking. This study of his mother taken in 1982 is one of my favourites. I love all the detail including his brown shoes at the bottom. It looks like such a dreary day, his mother must have had to sit still for ages.

Many years ago I entered a photo competition. The only judge was Martin Parr. He put my photo in the final six which went to the public vote. He'd been one of my photo heroes and his work continues to inspire me. So sad to hear he has died.
