Reading next, following my note taking on Middlemarch. I've already read a few books on the Law and 19c marriage. George Eliot never married but she lived with her partner until his death.

My new Puma walking shoes and some pretty compression socks. I began walking full time in March of 2025. I could hardly make it around the corner. Now I walk a competitive speed for 2 miles a day. Training for my first 5k. My son is a marathon runner. He has a motto, "Die on Your Feet." Laughing.
“Your green eye is a reducing chamber. If I look into it long enough, I will become as small as my own reflection, I will diminish to a point and vanish. I will be drawn down into that black whirlpool and be consumed by you.” – Angela Carter, The Erl-King 📷 Francesca Woodman

I loved this film, it's 1870, and Tom Hanks played the lead. It's a great little novel that I have meaning to read for a couple of years. The value of a single human life is its attention, among other wonderful human things.
I bought this after reading an essay by Zadie Smith on Art for Our Sakes. Art made by humans in moments of joy or despair is needed as resistance to the coming tidal wave of AI that will be forced on people.
Patricia McKillip, one of my favorite writers. I often reread her.
These books are a wonder. The Natural History of Edward Lear sits on my coffee table in the living room. I look through it a lot. Another person I wish I could have a conversation with..... Born May 12 1812
I try to imagine my mother outside myself. It's a good psychological exercise, that she had a life outside of being a mother, that she was a very young girl at one time with dreams of her own. Sometimes I am successful at this. Happy Mother's Day. I miss you. I love you. Happy Mother's Day to all.
"Aeneas carried his aged father on his back from the ruins of Troy and so do we all, whether we like it or not, perhaps even if we have never known them." — Angela Carter Born on May 7 Happy Birthday 🎉 You are so missed.
“Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.” 💛🌳🍃 ― Henry David Thoreau 🎨 Tree roots and Tree trunks, Van Gogh
What a great book! But I have had a couple of existential crises reading it. Laughing. 😱 I mean, humans are just passing through. Life will go on. What you really understand is how indifferent Nature is. Oh, well. I am having fun.

Happy Birthday to William Morris, a man worthy of the title "Influencer." His best friend was Edward Burne Jones. Two of my favorite people in history. 🌸🍃
