Invasion of Astro-Monster - 6.5/10 this movie is like weirdly anti-immigration dude, why are we depicting foreign aliens as colonizers the human to kaiju ratio is also kinda bad, idrc about humans in kaiju movies give me more kaiju fights/destruction
Steven Universe: The Movie - 7.5/10 i think it was cute as someone who only watched like snippets of the first season back when i was a kid, i think the musical numbers are neat and the bonds that everyone shares is sweet.
Half-Life 2: Episode 1 (7/11/2026) - 5/10 this expansion blows, the gravity gun is only good for like a quarter of the game before you're stuck with a barage of those grasshopper things and dealing with that annoying car patch thing, and the pacing was so slow. not fun at all
Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster aside from the first 2 godzilla movies, easily the most approachable kaiju movie from the 60's, lots of fun and action with the goofy premise and seeing a 3v1 with godzilla, mothra and rodan duking it out with the titular kaiju best part no racist tribe depiction
Mothra vs Godzilla i liked this movie though again, the tribal depictions is hard to get past like the last movie... and the way godzilla was defeated from mothra's larva babies was kinda dumb but otherwise it was an entertaining watch, it's not a strong movie but dumb fun all the same
King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) it was a fun vs movie though it was highkey racist with the tribal depictions, it was also slow at times in the down time between rounds 1 and 2 between king kong and godzilla. still, i enjoyed the kaiju battle, but it was bullshit that kong won.
the last act. as a cinematic experience, it was quite pleasant. as a finale... there can be worse. it's not bad but i don't think it's scratched every itch i had coming into the series. i think for what it needed to do, it's adequate to give a sendoff to jax and pomni in a very satisfying way.
i think this has an interesting setup for the mystery of the circus and their inhabitants reaching a climax though looking back, it's kind of weak being more or less exposition. the abel trickery and jax's irrational decision are very good, with the fallout of it making tensions so high for everyone
similar to episode 3, what starts as a silly "paintball" campaign turns into a very personal conversation with pomni and jax as they bond over the course of the battle, i really felt the tension when they got deep into their feelings only for jax to play it off afterwards. i always like these ones.
another great episode! the grab bag nature that the suggestion box allows makes for great unique setpieces personal to the characters that have submitted to it. my favorite scene is zooble's bar, letting everyone speak and vent to one another with jax predictably shielding himself is great.
my personal favorite episode. the existential dread of your life hitting a dead end and gangle's new mask being a metaphor for the anguish she hides well with a smile is a sad truth i relate to. the subplot with pomni trying to reconnect with gummigoo is also very sweet, with her letting him go.
the jump from the first two to this one is astounding, the journey with kinger and pomni and the chekov's breath holding is just amazing, the motif of kinger being a guiding light to weather the chaos that pomni is adjusting to is fantastic. oh and a funny subplot with the gang enjoying tea.
it's another wacky hijinks episode, though the cracks start to show in the circus with an interesting subplot with pomni and gummigoo questioning the rules of this new world and what it means to be human vs artificial, a theme that persists through the show. the visuals also look much better.
i think the pilot is a good enough hook though i think it's the weakest of the bunch. when you observe the later episodes, this one is rather plain in both story and visuals. not a bad start though it's slow to push through on rewatch.
Godzilla Raids Again i like this! a good follow-up sequel though i think it's not as strong as the original. the fight scene with anguirus was awesome and the wreckage is amped up, i thoroughly enjoyed the practical effects more than the original. kinda got boring near the end, but nice flick!
The Amazing Digital Circus - 7/10 overall [Viewing from 3/22/2026 to 6/5/2026] i will make a thread for a little thought blurb for episodes 1-7 and dedicate another mini-thread for the last act. but overall? it's a fine enough show, i can see why it garnered as much attention as it did.
Godzilla (1954) [Original Viewing on 6/12/2026] very cool anti-nuke movie, the visual effects are amazing for their time and the tragic end of the poor creature made my heart ache a little. to quote a tatsuro yamashita song, "WE JUST GOTTA GET UP RIGHT NOW! WE MUST SAVE THIS WORLD SOMEHOW!"
with those orange pants you might find yourself waking up here the next day
The Backrooms i thought it was a quaint little adventure with some thrills and interesting set design but nothing that jumps out to me in particular, i think it's just a swell horror movie. i do like the claustrophobic and loopy feeling and the found footage filmmaking style, very cool.
