4x4 for the week! I finished my second batch of records for my jazz binge, all released between 1960-1962. Also checked out July's biggest contender for Record of the Month.
3x4 for the week! Took a month-long break, but I'm back on my bullshit. This time, I've got a bunch of jazz records to binge over the next couple of months. To start off, I listened to eleven albums from the '50s.
4x4 for the week! I've finally finished my four month long binge of new-to-me punk and metal albums! As something of an epilogue, this week was dedicated to 2010s releases. Also included are a handful of CDs I recently bought at Barnes & Noble.
5x5 for the week! This is the penultimate batch for my punk-metal quest: 24 albums from the latter half of the '00s. Definitely a bit excessive, but I made it through. (Can you tell I've been re-reading Where Are Your Boys Tonight?)
5x4 for the week! I've made it to the mid-2000s in my punk-metal journey. I had too many albums for 2005 and 2006, so this batch is actually Part 1 of 2. Including Part 2, I've only two more batches left before I'm finally done.
5x5 for the week! So, this was originally supposed to be 15 albums from 2003, but uh I got carried away. Accordingly, I expanded my list of albums for this project so I now have three batches left to go. The last couple of batches have been punk-heavy, so I tried to find more metal LPs to listen to.
"Think back to your childhood. Do you remember when the anxiety started?"
5x4 for the week! I have only two more batches left in my journey to experience more punk and metal. This week brings me to 2002.
Early 4x4 this week! I listened to thirteen (technically) albums from 2001 in my ongoing punk/metal quest.
4x4 for the week! Continuing on my quest to expose myself to more punk and metal, I've reached 2001 with a predominantly punk batch of albums this time.
5x4 for the week! I'm finally through with the '90s! This batch was planned to be fully 1999, but my inclusion of a couple of obscure* screamo band discographies makes it more like 1997-2001. At least it gave me a head start on my 2000 and 2001 batches.
5x4 for the week! I'm nearing the end of the '90s as part of my quest to listen to more metal and punk. This week, I listened to eighteen albums from 1997 and 1998.
4x4 for the week! Listened to an armful of punk and metal records from 1996.
4x4 for the week! My ongoing quest to familiarize myself with more metal and punk has brought me to 1995. I also managed to catch up on a few new pop releases from this month.
4x4 for the week! Listened to fourteen punk and metal albums from 1993 and 1994.
5x4 for the week! Resumed my ongoing project to absorb as much classic metal and punk as I possibly can. This week brought me back to 1992 (for the most part).
5x5 for the week! My so-called break: about twelve hours of new and recent music I've been meaning to get to. This probably could've been a 6x6, but I'm lazy. (Of the ten releases missing, most of them were singles anyway.) For next week, I'm heading back to the punk/metal mines. Destination: 1992!
5x5 for the week! Bit off a bit more than I could chew--here's where the CD era starts to pop off--but managed to listen to twenty-three notable punk and metal albums from 1990 and 1991, for the most part. Unrelated, but I think I'm gonna take a breather next week to catch up on new releases!
Early 5x4 for the week! (Consider this my new regular time, actually) I listened to my final batch of '80s albums in my ongoing quest to familiarize myself with various metal and punk sub-genres.
Early 5x4 for the week! Listened to eighteen punk and metal releases from 1986 and 1987.
5x5 (barely) for the week! Continuing my quest to become more familiar with various metal and punk subgenres. Listened to 19 records mostly from '84 and '85, spanning hardcore, thrash metal, and doom metal.
Behold! A 4x4 for this week! After an unplanned hiatus, I've returned to share more albums I've recently listened to for the very first-time. Lay witness to the beginning of my latest journey: a light survey of heavy metal and punk from the '80s through to the '00s!
First 5x5 of 2026! Still catching up on 2025 releases including various AOTY contenders and everything label Siren for Charlotte put out (not including Xtalline, their first release back in '23.) Last but not least, my first albums of the new year!
Kept busy this year. There's still catching up to do on 2025 releases, but I'll deal with that next year. Happy 2026, ya'll!
Late(?) 5x4 for this week. Catching up on releases from this year, pt. 1 of 3 maybe.
5x4 this week! This is the last batch of my Indie Hangover Cure arc/project I started planning several months ago. I've finally reached the mid-'00s* after starting from the '50s. I've finished off by checking out some classic hip-hop and post-rock plus the Disintegration Loops and Laurel Halo. /1
