Two profoundly misleading New York Times headlines: in the first, conservative Justices "see progress on racism." In the second, "some Black Southerners say voting rights ruling missed the mark." Yeah right. The only critics are some Black people who live in the South, so who cares.

Every article I'm seeing, from Reuters to Baptist News Global, says no reason was given for the firing. Stars & Stripes appears to speculate it might be connected to Hegseth demanding changes to the insignia worn by chaplains.

Hegseth last month announced the Pentagon is doing away with rank insignias for military chaplains, requiring them to instead display religious insignia as part of broader changes to the chaplain corps. Chaplains will still retain their ranks, but the change is meant to highlight the importance of the chaplain’s role as a religious leader.

LIFETIME SUPREME COURT SEATS
Most democracies have instituted term limits or mandatory retirement ages for their highest courts.
UPPER CHAMBERS
Upper houses like the US Senate were created to protect wealth and advantage rural interests over urban. Most established democracies have abolished or disempowered their upper chambers.
ELECTORAL COLLEGE
All democracies that once relied on electoral colleges have abolished them. We are the world's only presidential democracy whose leader can be seated after losing the popular vote.
CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS
The US Constitution is harder to change than any other. Norway, for example, has amended its constitution over 300 times. The US? Twenty seven times total.
Add to this the highly successful state-level efforts to suppress voters, and here we are.
Devastated by a system designed to devastate us. I firmly believe change is possible, but we must understand what we're up against, and organize accordingly.
