Agreed. Such barns are the inspiration for various artists. We had a tour of the Towner Art Gallery store room today. This work by Robert Taverner was one example.

Absolutely Peter. The whole building is huge & full of local character - being one the largest barns in Sussex. To think it was built, probably in two stages, 500 years ago.

16th Century barn, Court House Farm, Alciston, Sussex The Tithe Barn of the Grange belonged to Battle Abbey. Such wonderful tiles on the sweeping roof, knapped flint walls & magnificent cart entry doorways. Historic England Grade 1 listed building. #TilesOnTuesday

#Roman mosaic floor Villa at Bous, Luxembourg 2nd century CE One of 6 mosaic floors discovered at the villa site in the Nineteenth Century. However, they were left in situ and deteriorated over the decades. This is the remains of a black-and-white patterned pavement. #MosaicMonday

St Martin’s, Little Stukeley, Huntingdonshire Tower of 13th Century, but belfry stage was rebuilt in 1887. Architect S. Inskip Ladds, restored the tower in 1933 & included recovered #Romanesque column-shafts. Seen on excellent tour of churches with @johnevigar.bsky.social. #SteepleSaturday

Tower & porch. The tower has smaller stones to first & second stages, thick buttresses & an ashlar top with small thin pinnacles.
