Happy Caturday!! Mama (Sock), and her now 12 week babies on Thursday night. It's not often that she let's them nurse, and I'm pretty sure her milk is mostly gone. Top to bottom kittens are Miso, Jellybean (calico tabby), Sassafras, Mochi (largest at 4lbs), Cookie (smallest at 2lbs), and Dumpling.
I colored my hair and it's making me very happy! Also: recently finished making a cardigan for daughter-in-law, and making real progress building strength & balance in physical therapy! I'm hoping to go back to work in August.
Without downloading anything new where are you mentally?
This is Cookie, the runt of the litter from the stray we took in. Awake, she's a hyperactive pinball, asleep... well, you can see. She's been snoozing next to me in between bouts of chasing her littermates
The kittens are 7 weeks old now, gearlessly exploring everything, watching and learning. (Like velociraptors) Last night 5 of them worked together to take down Large Prey - my laundry hamper.
One more. The milk bar is open for a mid-afternoon snack and nap. All 6 here. They've started drinking water and eating solid food (when I can keep them from thinking it's a litter box), but mama's job isn't quite over yet
This is harder than it sounds. The little piranhas are 5 weeks now, and don't want to hold still Okay, we have 4 of 6 here: Jellybean (calico), Mochi (attacking mom), Dumpling (on scratcher), and Miso (murdering my leg, ow). A fifth, Cookie, is standing on my chest trying to eat my phone
About 3 1/2 weeks ago the stray cat we took in had kittens. They're now tiny, rowdy little menaces on wobbly legs, gleefully learning to pounce
Cats are adorable little murder machines. Please keep them indoors. They'll be happier, healthier, and safer. And so will the local wildlife. Here is photographic evidence of Judith from Accounting not missing the outside, and not killing anything except a Sunday afternoon nap
The kittens are two weeks old today! This little chonk is Miso
I like to think that I'm fairly thoughtful, reflective and self-aware, and then I catch myself walking out of a craft store with three gigantic bags of yarn and *then* think "oh, I'm hypomanic right now." (I'm not returning the yarn)
Our big orange himbo is named in Jonesey's honor. Scrappy little survivor
The pregnant cat we took in had her litter! Six little squeaky kittens, already fighting over dinner. Mama Cat is doing fine, and proud to show off her babies 🥰
KITTENS HAVE LANDED!! REPEAT: KITTENS HAVE LANDED!! We have, at first count, six, all tabby. More as the situation develops
From my personal collection. Of cats. The very pregnant Sock (brown tabby); Miss Maple (black & white); Pyewacket (tuxedo), Maple and Del (solid black) on the cat tree; and Snickers (marble tabby)
We're now 3 1/2 weeks into "any day now." No kittens yet.
Sock kittenwatch update, "within the week" +6 days. No kittens yet. Sock remains defiantly pregnant and resists all arguments as to why she should consider *not* being pregnant anymore (basically that everyone wants to meet the babies!)
Sock kittenwatch update: No kittens yet, and my confidence in the vet's "any day now" is dwindling as we're now at "within a week" +4
Sock kittenwatch update: No kittens yet. Sock is grooming her belly, legs, and tail more, so... soon? Poor baby just looks exhausted
Sock update: oof. Mama is still hanging on-- no kittens yet!
Sock update: no kittens yet, but mama is very large and uncomfortable. The kittens are extremely active. She is "please pet my tummy" at every chance. Good news, she is accepting the towel-lined box we gave her. (Mostly because we took away her other options)
I have an Anders body pillow that's lived on my bed for the last 5 years
Lots of movement in the belly today. I'm hoping it means the kittens are healthy. Sock is upset because we blocked off under the bed (where she really wanted to be) and she's not very interested in the bed we're offering. She sees the vet tomorrow
To recap: We had 6 cats Said goodbye to 3 last year Adopted 2 kittens Adopted another kitten TWO MORE kittens were delivered to the door by their mother (we're trying to TNR her, but she's slippery) So 8 cats (3 adult + 5 kittens), okay fine AND THEN...
