Rediscovering myself after jumping into the void of life. It’s taking longer than I expected. Photos © me; watermarked. OM System TG-7 or iPhone 8. #SmallFarmLife Coastal #PNW Pacific Northwest
Robin and Daisy, next time you’re at this confluence - the first one inland from the highway - please give it my greetings!
This year’s first kidlings were about a week old in this photo, taken about a week ago. Nigerian Dwarf buck x homestead-mix doe (shown here). #GoatSky #SmallFarmLife
In case you missed living through the eras listed below, please be assured that the limits for #women listed in the graphic did indeed exist. I can’t specifically vouch for the Acts and bills mentioned nor the legislative votes, but see no reason to doubt that info. Via @rosieogrady53.bsky.social
Kayaking yesterday. Great light. These weathered trees reminded me of bristlecones in the high Sierras. Making photos from a rocking boat is a challenge. I didn’t even notice the pipes at water’s edge until my partner remarked on them as we paddled off.
Our new buckling meeting our herd a few days ago. He’s small because he was born off-season, but we’re looking forward to adding Kiko traits to our homestead herd. #SmallFarmLife #KikoGoats #GoatSky
In case it might be helpful: I was told that the key to the outside access panels - to passthrough storage, specifically - is very commonly used in RVs. Trailer parks often have extras of the specific cut. Not sure if that’s still true. Sorry to add a concern that needs to be researched.
Another image of last week’s fern. #FernFriday #PNW #OM:TG-7 #TG-7
This moss-covered rock is right outside my kitchen window. It’s lushing up with the recent rains. #MossMonday #OM:TG-7
These PNW ferns have been enjoying our recent rains. #FernFriday
Small fern in the forest pushing up through brown evergreen needles, twigs, and bark. #FernFriday #PNW #OM:TG-7 #TG-7
Gardening pix: seedlings in the greenhouse/solarium for overwintering, and I’m pleased to learn that the raspberry canes gifted to us early last year give a double crop! #SmallFarmLife #OM:TG-7 #TG-7 #close-up Thank you, @bsky.app, for punctuation in hashtags!
Moss on an old apple tree, as a very dry Summer turns to Autumn. #MossMonday #Equinox
I hate my junior high school self who was so afraid of metric. Let’s see: thank 3 1/2” but less than 3 3/4. Three segments of some measurement over 3 1/2. Not 8ths. Not 1/16ths. So, 32nds. Three 32nds more than 3 1/2”. How many 32nds in a half inch? 16. So 16 + 3 = 3 19/16”. Right? Maybe.
CW: violence, animal to animal These last few days have been difficult, and I have no photos I feel comfortable showing you. A small pack of dogs attacked our little herd of goats and it wasn’t clear until today that the doeling who got mauled would make it through. She will. #SmallFarmLife
Thank you, team! I was able to save a couple of test posts, but they were dated automatically, so I had to scroll down through alllll my previously created undated drafts to find them. I’d prefer to have the most recent at the top. (Looks like I’ve been with you about a year, though. That’s cool.)
This may be a more useful screenshot. I entered “…” as the text. See the “Save as Draft” button: grey with a 🚫 icon.
Hi, Dave. Thanks for your reply! I’m using the browser interface. Here are some screenshots. It’s not a prompt; there’s already a date/time filled in. That’s what bugs me. I‘be been leaving things as Drafts until I’m ready to line up my next few posts. Can’t figure out how to with this new system.
Not a farm truck. NOT a farm truck. I’ve said this to my partner dozens of times so far, if not more, over these few years. But here it is, permanently dusty, with empty feed sacks in the back. Taking fruit to friends. #SmallFarmLife
Ceremonial picking of our first two ripe Desert King figs this afternoon. And eating. Mmmm!
Yesterday, canoeing. Today, checking the field where we’ll pick up baled hay this weekend, a stop at the feed store, then blueberry picking on a sunny, warm, but not hot, afternoon. I feel like such a slacker. (Tomorrow, yogurt making.) #SmallFarmLife
Farmer love language. These appeared on my placemat while I was out taking care of the rabbits. #SmallFarmLife
Moss in dappled sun for #MossMonday. This is one of the trees that may be dropped today. As I stepped into the shade to thank it for the gifts of its beauty, oxygen, habitat for flora, fauna, and mycelium, and all future uses, the sun snuck in for a moment, highlighting the moss.
Rabbit tractors! Moveable bunny hutches. Only took us six weeks to complete. But perhaps as important: I drilled my first pilot holes and did NOT break the drill bit!!! #Rabbits #RabbitTractor #SmallFarmLife #NewZealandRabbits
