This is huge, and it will have enormous repercussions on the future of the ICC. The entire process was a nightmare. Nobody cared to preserve the integrity of the the institution. Let's try and move on to reconstruction now.
Last day of work before some extended annual leave. It has been an extraordinarily busy academic year, full of teaching and research. I do need a break. See you at the end of August. Enjoy some time off if you can!

Excited to be again in Nottingham for their flagship International Criminal Justice Conference! I'll present on the ICC Appeals Chamber's approach to conflicts between the Prosecutor and Pre-Trial Chambers in relation to prosecutorial discretion. I look forward to the other presentations!

First book launch today in London. Copies arrived. The book is real. I'm a bit emotional - I know there are more important things going on in the world, but a long period of my (academic) life is distilled in here.

Some months ago I wrote a comment on the 𝐷𝑅𝐶 𝑣 𝑈𝑔𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑎 case before the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights, now published in the 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑒 𝐽𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑜𝑓 𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝐿𝑎𝑤. It discusses the extraterritorial application of human rights in armed conflict: academic.oup.com/chinesejil/a...
Really excited to share the full cover of my forthcoming book on 𝙎𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙩, which will be published on 21 April. The book aims at speaking to both public international law (particularly treaty interpretation) and international criminal law communites.
