From my book, ‘The Edge of Ruin’ Plate 42 Sourton Ice Works, Devon This 19th-century industrial ice farm in an exposed corner of Dartmoor opened in 1875 to supply fish traders in Plymouth. Set on terraces, the ice works featured rectangular pits, spring-fed via leats (artificial waterways)..
